Thanks to the Veterans...
Anybody that has met me has seen the scars
but you have to hold a Top Secret Clearance for the stories
....Or buy the first cold beer
I like the rest of the people here, thank all those that went before me, and those of you that have or are currently carrying the torch in my place.
Freedom is NOT free and your dedication and service will never be forgotten in this home.

Well last night as I sat in the Moose Lodge as my Dad forgot my b-day again this year I found out something interesting. The man I was sitting next to i have know for a while and is a true hero. The only service I have done is to make it to a few 3rd world countries for training and then the terrible year in Iraq. But I couldn't help last night to feel like I had done nothing when someone played a song on the juke box that has his name in it. He just sat and enjoyed his drink only picking up the pace slightly when song was played. After the song was done and conversation resumed I found out that the 2 purple hearts that I thought he had turned out to be 3. The only time I have seen his medals was the week after I came home from Iraq and he had a plaque made to house the most familiar ones. I thank you all; veterans before me and all still fighting. The ones that come still get the same respect. Thanks again Veterans.

I attended a veterans appeciation rally at one of my kids school a couple years after 9/11. They had vets from the local VFW there to speak and share their stories and to recieve some hand made awards. There was a couple Gulf war vets, some Vietnam and Korean war vets and a couple WWII vets. I helped wheel an elderly gentlemen and his wife out to the mic. so they could share their story. He and his wife were married for 57 years. He spent 3 years in Europe including the Battle of the Bulge. He met his wife in Europe, she was a army nurse. They both talked about their service and how they met and why they married. There was a couple thousand students in the auditorium, besides some sobbing in the background, you could have heard a pin drop while they spoke. I am lost for words to describe how I fealt listening to them, they truly were the Greatest Generation.
To all the WWII, Korean, Vietnam, past and present Gulf war vets, a Huge Patriotic THANK YOU.
