Thanks to the Veterans...

I got stopped by an old retired Marine this afternoon while I was out and about doing my daily duties. The guy must have talked to me for almost an hour. As I'm sitting there listing to him tell tales of old, I realize that I am standing next to a hero, one of the brave men that made this country what it is today. The stories that he must possess... one can only imagine. It was like listening to a history book talk. I could only hope to have the grit that he had back then... 18 years old and rushing a machine gun nest on the beaches of Iwo Jima. The brethren that died to his left and right in the quest to conquer evil.

My hat's off to you, veterans. Thank you for what you have done for me, and this great country. Semper Fi.

Madhat

Lary, I'm sure you've got some really good stories. And the scars to prove it.

As soon as the Freedom of Information Act opens up the files, he'll be able to tell them to us.

Seriously though, thanx to all of you who have served, or are serving, or will serve.

Anybody that has met me has seen the scars but you have to hold a Top Secret Clearance for the stories ....Or buy the first cold beer

I like the rest of the people here, thank all those that went before me, and those of you that have or are currently carrying the torch in my place.

Freedom is NOT free and your dedication and service will never be forgotten in this home.

Thanks to all Veterans! AND to the ones that DIDN'T come home...

You guys did what you did so that we can have forums like this to express our thoughts.

My utmost respect and my prayers go out to all Veterans!

All teery eyed typing this...
Of course, half the time I can't belt out the Star Spangled Banner because of the
lump in my throat.

Thanks again!

I met an old boy at Perkins Resturant the other day, he was with 3/5 for everything except Guadalcanal. Even if you were for some reason to ignore the mass of honorable service the man had, you have to at least admire him for being such a lucky SOB. He must have been one of only a handful that made it through all 3 fights.
