Taxes by the mile
NOT ON MY RIG!!!
I purposefully did not get GPS and I turn my cell phone off when not in use as they can be used for the same purpose.
"Big brother'', does not need to know where I am 24-7.
Maybe I'm paranoid, or maybe I'm smart.

Yeah I saw that on the news today also. It's ridiculous. Are they going to tax me on how much gas I use in my lawn mower? What if the GPS tells them I was doing 90 on my motorcycle do I get a fine added onto my taxes. The whole idea is ridiculous...
I said it once, I'll say it again...
You make GPS readers, I'll make millions selling sheets of lead. Enough said.
"Sir, you're GPS taxer device seems to be mounted on a cow..."
"Honestly, your Honor, I have no idea what you're talking about..."
Seems like a good way to get massively conned out of tax money to me.

So now because hibreds (inbreeds) are using less gas, you would think because there is less demand the price would go down, that's economics isn't it???, but nnooo, now they say that because there is less gas produced it costs more to make, so you pay more,,,,pal.
I think it's time the pork barrel gets laid over and some economics gets put in our gov't. Get efficient U.S. of A. and state of XXX. I have to, my pals have to,...why not y'all.

I figure the main reason the gov't hasn't leaned on the oil companies to get their acts together, is because of all the extra sales tax, etc. that they get off the higher price. How could they be hurting? But, on the other hand, why should I pay their way? I think a GPS to track them is too much intrusion though. Do it the same as taxes. They can report for themselves, you can't accuse somebody of cheating, before they cheat.
Think that is bad, we live out in the country and have our own water well. The county is talking about placing meters on our wells in order to tax us for the amount of water we use.
What next air meters?

Forgive me, as this topic really pushes my buttons!
I know, it "seems" like it starts in Kalifornia BUT...
Politicians here in Texas are absolutely GIDDY with plans to convert many of our larger cities existing state highways into toll roads.. Right now, they are working to conquer the Greater Austin area first with an absolutely astounding number of miles of toll roads per million people!!!
They (the pro-toll lobby, TxDOT and our State leaders) are already pursuing intended fast-track plans for every major city in Texas!!!
THis toll system is actually intended as a general revenue generator not a transportation improvement plan...
Folks, admit it, they have taxed just about everything they can politically, and now govt. must come up with "alternate" methods to reach into your hip pocket! Taxing you for every mile you travel seems to be the latest diabolical method..
But, punishing drivers for operating nicely efficient turbodiesels and gas hybrids, thereby not generating all that possible extra revenue in road fuel taxes is inherently wrong...
The published operating costs of these private toll collection companies is shameful at best! The total amount of $$$ coming out of your pockets to pay for fuel taxes, licensing fees AND toll charges would be much greater than if they just kicked the fuel taxes way up!
My problem with toll roads to generate "revenue" is this... If they are insisting on doing something to gouge us out of more $$$ anyway, why create yet another taxing entity (i.e. toll collection entities) when there is a mechanism already in place that collects tax money for road fuel purchases.
It certainly would be more "efficient" $-wise than to siphon off all that collected money from the top to pay for the contracted toll collection company's operation!
Don't get me wrong! I am dead set against any tax increases! Especially double taxing the means of me being able to get to-and-from, my means of making an income!
I firmly believe our government gets more inefficient, sedentary and bloated with every extra dollar they get their grubby paws on!
OK, I'll cool off now... I gotta go back to work so I can pay my taxes, so maybe I can have a buck left to eat on.
