Question PE's/EIT's?

How many members out there have their professional engineer license or have completed the engineer in training test? If so, what engineering discipline are you in and was it worth it? Do you work for a company with a lot of engineers of your type or are you one of a handful (or the only one) in that discipline?

Thanks,
~Rob

I have my EIT and plan on taking the PE this April. I'm a mechanical engineer for a consulting firm that does full service design, survey, civil, structural, and mechanical electrical plumbing engineering. I'd say that "it depends" whether or not it's worth it. It's definitely worth it for my job here. We have over 100 employees total, with about half being engineers. Of the engineers, I'd say that 60% or so have their PE's or at least EIT. For someone in industry or contracting it's probably not really needed. But I like to think that any additional credentials or certifications can only help somebody when it comes to salary discussions or job opportunities. I mean it shouldn't "hurt" someone to have their PE, if so, then maybe they should think about finding a job that would reward that kind of accomplishment and appreciate the experience.
