1/8 mile to 1/4 mile time conversion

Does anyone know of a site that can convert 1/8 mile times to 1/4 times or if that can even be done?

Travis

1/8 mile time x 1.5 = 1/4 time. this is a VERY rough estimate. im sure there are closer estimates and it doesnt always work.

you can get a general idea with calculators or if you know 1/4 mile times well but every car or truck acts different some make all there time off the line and some pull the hardest on the top so its hard to tell

There is no way posible to know the 1/4 mile times/speed by using the 1/8 mile. There are to many unknown variables. For instance, what is the gear ratio? It may be just right for the 1/8 mile, but run out of gear before the 1/4 mile. Traction could cause a low 1/8, but the power may give a very good 1/4.

This is a little crude, but most vehicles use 65% of the 1/4 mile run to go the first half. So, a vehicle that runs 12.00 in the 1/4 would run about 7.80 in the 1/8 (12.00 x .65). Conversely, a vehicle that runs 8.00 in the 1/8 would run about 12.31 in the 1/4 (8.00/.65). Assumes a lot but works ok on most vehicles.

I didn't intend to point you out as being wrong, just that there were other things to look at. Sorry!
