I can be very polite when I need to, I work in the nuclear industry which nowadays is probably the most politically correct field in the world.
BUT, I can still go the incorrect side when needed too.

Darn right, I got a nice side, and an animal side. Don't be an idiot officer, you might unlock the beast! I got cuffed right about then tho...Dont say what I did!

Dom

P.S. This guy really had a thing for me, and I am usually a very nice person...but nice flew out the stack when I got pulled over the 3rd time that night by him. About my high intensity headlights. The better to see you with officer!

Isn't that called harassment if you get pulled over by the same cop on the same night for the same thing?

Update on court case

Finally went to court. Judge said they are illegal if you go by the letter of the law. Didn't say take them off but did say I'm playing Russian roulett with them since some officers will write them and some will not. The original officer was there and he stated the wrong county right off the bat. Then one of the lawyers that was in to court room wanted to see the pictures and the little wise cracker trooper that was there with the original officer made it very clear to the lawyer that they are illegal. I expect I will be hearing from those two again. The baliff looked at the pictures and he even said they were really cool looking.

Cost me $30 fine and $26 court cost in the end. Guess we'll see in a little while.

$56 to keep the stacks? Worth it IMO. What is the exact letter of the law concerning them? I know in Texas the exhaust must exit behind the passenger cab and a turbo is considered a legal muffling device.

Were you instructed as to what "the letter of the law" is? I would think if you were tried and convicted, you should at least have a copy of the law to which you were pronounced guilty of breaking.

I would think that the judge should have given a definate Yes or No, not a "Looks cool, but I don't know" answer.

He had the law book in front of him and I also had a print out from the DMV web site. They both say "comparable to installed at the factory".
I didn't mind the $56 to keep them but that one goon was specific talking to the lawyer so I have a sneaky suspicion I will see him again.

Judge disn't say yes or no, just that I was breaking the law and that I would most likely get stopped again.

I'd be willing to bet on it. Sounds like a losing proposition to me, but only you can decide how many times you're willing to pay $56 (or possibly more, as a repeat offender) to keep the stacks.

It's after the fact now... but have your boy tell the judge he pulls cattle or some type of livestock often and that with the stacks, it allows the exhaust to flow up and over the trailer away from the load whereas with a regular exhaust outlet it'll flow right into the trailer.

BTW, was anything mentioned about dual exhaust on every other ride out there?

No but they won't bother them even though that system is not right by law either.

Leave the stacks but re-route the exhaust where it is supposed to be. Let the goof ball trooper stop you and ticket you again and go to court and make a fool out of him.

Or install a cable operated splitter and when ya see one coming,,,,,, just switch over to the "unseen" system under the truck. Tell em you only use the stacks when you go off-road four-wheelin.
