Toward the end of last week I called Stateline Diesel in Edwardsburg MI. to ask about changing the pop pressure on some PODs for my truck. The guy I talked to was Tim. I explained what I wanted to do and asked what it would cost. He said between $4.00 and $6.00 per injector which I thought was a smokin' deal. Monday I dropped the injectors off and got a call Wednesday that they were ready. Thursday I called to get the total and the guy I talked to (didn't get the name) told me $104 and some change. I said it was a lot more than I expected and he says "Well the $4.00 to $6.00 is just for the pop test, changing the pressure is um, let me check..." I'm afraid I was a bit short with the guy and said "Whatever, it is what it is, I'll be up tommorrow to get them."

So I'm driving up today thinking about this and had decided either I wasn't clear about what I was asking for or that I misunderstood what he told me... either way, they had my parts and I needed them back, so shut up and write the check.

When I get there, Tim comes to the counter and asks if I had called before I brought them up. I said "Yes, I called before I brought these in." He says "It'll be $27.91. I remember that call and I gave you the wrong price. I'm a man of my word and I'll stand behind it." Folks, I about fell over. I told him that I was prepared to pay the correct price but he insisted.

So, if you're looking for an honest shop near the Indiana/Michigan line, go see these guys. And a big thumbs up and double kudos to Tim and his shop.

 

There are a LOT of people in this state like that, stuff like that is kinda what attracted me to move here a few years ago. I grew up in New England and most of the peole I dealt with had those values. Real hard to find now but it's nice to hear about it and even nicer you took the time to let everyone know too!
