Something's hokey in Hoke County
According to the gubbimint, a lunch consisting of a turkey and cheese sandwich, a banana, apple juice and potato chips is not adequately nutritious so the child in question ate 3 chicken nuggets instead. How is that more nutritious?

Anything the government gets involved in gets really screwed up. It really gets interesting, disgusting, harmful, and counterproductive when they get involved in raising children.
For instance in this case, mama says the kid won't eat her veggies unless closely supervised. She don't get em in her lunch, so they aren't wasted. She gets them at supper when she has to eat them.
Notice, the kid didn't eat any gubmint veggies either.
It's getting to the point that a conscientious parent has to defy the government on a regular basis. We good parents are actually considered subversive, and a threat to society.
It begs the question, whose society?
I had to buy illicit raw milk, as one of my children was severely allergic to whatever is in store bought milk. If you look at the instructions for one of the horrific cleaners they are required to use on their equipment, you will find that the last wash is not to be rinsed.
I had to fight to keep one of my children from getting the third and fourth DPT injections. The first one caused a huge red rash. The second one caused intense screaming for days and petite mall seizures for years. The third and fourth would have either killed her or put her into lifelong epilepsy or other severe brain damage.
My kids are all home schooled. They are all productive members of society. The few that are on the dole at all are doing it to further their education, and will more than repay society with their services. 2 are soldiers. One is a missionary. 2 are nurses or in training for that. 2 are oil field truckers. 3 are good mothers enabling their husbands to be productive.

That state worker is out of line. Their authority is to enforce the fed and state mandates on SCHOOL supplied lunch only. They have ZERO authority to inspect a privately packed lunch. My wife is a food director for a regional school system and deals with these morons on a regular basis.

We are to blame for this too. Why you ask? From a Christian perspective: Chain reaction. We are made comfortable in our modern churches. The sermon's tickle our ears and make us feel good about ourselves, make us think we're ok. As long as everybody thinks they themselves and everybody else is ok, there is no reason to encourage anybody to do right, or discourage them from doing wrong. We loose accountability and this causes our standards to change - to lower - and thus, what is considered right and wrong changes from one person to the next and radicals, generally driven by money, are allowed to govern our countries because no one will stand up for what's right, or stand against what's wrong. We've become *****'s. Wimps. I believe the majority of the root cause is the modern day Church. The Bible is our model. It is the absolute gauge/regulation between right and wrong - it's where right and wrong comes from in the first place. This is what happens when the Church no longer teaches Bible.

So,if a Muslim child is given a "pork chop" for lunch because hummus or FRIED FALAFEL is (name your reason)....So now we will have exemptions on religious grounds and so it goes on and on and on.
