So what would you change?

Every time I remember that its been 25 years +since I graduated HS, and I look back at where I thought I was goin or gonna be, and I think what I shoulda done differently. Cant say I shoulda went to college, shoulda payed attention in school more I suppose. Had I known I coulda make a 7 digit salary playin pro ball maybe I shoulda applied myself some more as I was told I could do. Glad I didnt marry my HS flame, great person but worlds apart in ways. It all seems so different than what I expected. Well, at least I still have some hair, more than I could say for some of the guys I saw at my 10 year reunion. Time sure seems to fly by when you get older, for all you young guys, If you got dreams go after them, it dont get any easier when you get older.

I didn't go to my 10 year reunion, 20 year is next year, thinking about going.
Guarantee I'll have more hair than any other guy there,
except the 1 or 2 that got the "gender reassignment surgery" in Switzerland.
Probably even more they they do.

I don't think I'd want to change anything, as everything has made me who I am today.

Ripple effect from changing one little thing could upset everything else.
Wouldn't have my kids, wouldn't have the job I have now.
Things could easily end up so much worse than I sometimes think they are.

Would be interesting to be able to go back and change just one thing
to see how it effects everything else though.

It's funny that we were just talking about this at work the other day. If anything, I would have tried to find me a better job right out of HS and stuck with it so I could be retired now at age 39!! As far as school reunions, I didn't like anyone then, so why go see them now.

Seeing that the real estate market here in the DC area has appreciated over 100% in the last 7 years, I definitely would have tried to find a way to buy another house or two.. Thanks to the one I did buy I have no truck payment!!

One of those hindsight is 20/20. If I only knew then what I know now. Could certainly be more comfortable today. However as stated above those are the experiences that make us who we are today. Not sure I would trade those expereinces for anything well most of them anyway.

Dreams yeah sometimes I wish I would have followed mine when I was younger but things kept getting in the way but all has turned out just fine. We have one son who is smarter than us well at least he thinks he is we dont know much of anything he is 16 now (reminds me of me when I was his age). We have another son 30 who quit a very good job on the fast track at Intel a couple years ago to follow his dream. He moved to Los Angeles to pursue his music career. At this point in time he barely keeps his head above water with the music. He has set a date and if something doesnt happen by then he is getting out so he can get back to reality (not to say music isnt reality just a very hard one to get into). Apparently he had this planned for quite sometime beforehand, lived like a pauper saving all his money so he would be able to do it went into it with a good plan and both eyes wide open. We thought he just didnt make that much from his job, boy we were suprised to find out what he gave up to go after his dream. I have to admit I give him huge kudos for having cajones that size to try it whether he is successful at it or not. His mother is just praying for the date to come so that it either happens or doesnt and he gets on with it whatever it may be.

One things for certain...no matter how bad somone might WANT to change the past....you can't. All you can do is learn from it and be grateful for what you have....then use what you've learned to determine your future.
