I give the guy props, after watching it start wiggling at about the 330' mark and knowing what the rear suspension was like on those old chebbies, I ain't man enough ( or insane enough ) to drive that one.

And I've driven some really stupid stuff down the track.....

Way cool video though.

when it's named "the Red Rocket" it loses claim to anything "sleeper"

I would have to give it to Ron Allen's old white beat up looking first gen with the rattle can finish. Although I'm not sure what configuration (motor) he has it in now but was running mid/low 11's before his 6.7 quest.

And lots of traction.

I would like to see what he did to his transmission to handle so much torque, sure doesn't look like has traction problems, wonder what he uses for ballast?

Likely a TH400 with a brake. They can be made to take HUGE torque. I have set at the light for 6-7 seconds before with right at 1400 Lb/Ft of supercharged BBC against the brake at 4300.

Makes for an interesting launch, mine is much straighter than his though......

He probably doesn't have as much ballast as you think, those years had the trailing arm suspension, basically think a ladder bar almost all the way up to the trans. There is a company, hotrods from hell that use those chebby truck trailing arms to make really cool car suspensions.
