About five hours after impact my back went into spasm...

I saw the doc and started a file. I am completely surprised that I have this problem in my back. From my mid back to my neck. Maybe my large carcass threw me forward harder then I thought.

Air bags did not go off in either vehicle.

He was a real good kid with real nice parents. They all knew who messed up and were very apologetic. Had they been arguing or disputing what happened, I think I may have been upset.

Hey Top isn't the middle pedal the clutch?

Ouch, Scotty, hopefully that back isn't serious. How would they repair the frame if it ripped it? would they just weld it back together? Good Luck, hope the back gets better...

I've always thought of those bumpers being nice and tough... but it seems as if it was TOO tough. Ripped the frame? That's bad jujus and IMO, it'd be a totaled truck. If it were just the regular bumper, it'd just be a screwed front end.

I think I'll be fine. I better be as I compete again in June, heaviest comp in Canada, ever.

I am going to have a closer look at the truck tomorrow. If the frame is ripped like it appears to be, I know that DC will not suggest a repair.

I am unable to get the hood open. I even wrecked the e brake when I stomped it down and got out of the truck. It does not work even with the pedal to the floor. Whoops.

Bad news Scotty. Make sure your back is fully looked at. Hope all goes well.

At least it wasn't your fault. Coulda been like me a couple months ago. I backed into a Deputy Sheriff .

Scotty,

Go get your back scanned right away. Then go out to a nice dinner and celebrate that no one was killed or seriously hurt. Maybe then go get a massage for the back (once you know no disks are slipped or anything).

Sorry that happened, but it really could have been worse.

I'm glad it looks like you aren't too seriously hurt.

did all this yesterday. Megs is a sports massage therapist and works on folks with injuries like this lots. Had the nice meal and watched a couple of movies last night and had a great sleep. Still siff and sore, had my second massage this a.m.

thanks for the concern and suggestions from all.

They're probably in amazement about how you caught that van up in the air and saved there baby. Would have liked to have seen his expression. Might be when you tweaked that back.

Sorry to hear about your accident, glad your OK. Keeping an eye on your back is a good idea. My wife was T-boned by a semi doing about 35mph over a year ago and walked away with no visible injuries. Since then she's been fighting back pain. She's had all sorts of x-rays, Dr's visit's and therapy and the pain is still there.

Seriously, keep moving! If that soft tissue is stretched or tore, it'll scar up and immobilize. AND every day your down, you lose 3% of your body strength. Went through that crap for 2 years after a motorcycle crash. My mom was T-boned last year. Still having difficulty that was compounded by her FIRST doctor who wanted to keep her immobilized. 2nd doc squared her away. ANy way, we'll be happy to supplement your therepy....

Yeah, I am doing what I can as often as possible. I have had several different injuries and the key is to move. This is not near what I have had before but I sure am surprised how it hit me with all the stiffness. Hot tub next, then some light stretching.

I'll take this over a truck landing on me at 80 mph. Been there, done that.

In the fall of 1978 I was drunk [something I did often but have not drank for 21 yrs now], and I was driving my 59 Merc 1/2 ton totally wasted at 80 mph on the highway after dropping off my friends at the lake. I was heading back to the town of Lumsden where I went to school. I intended on picking up my football pads for the next season that morning. I never made it.
Passed out at the wheel. A farmer was checking his cattle and saw me go into the ditch, hit his approach and I flipped the truck end for end 8 times, I was tossed out on the 7th flip and it landed on me. I had a crush wound. The weight of the truck is what stopped me from bleeding to death. The farmer called for an ambulance. I was under the truck for over an hour. I was unconscious all that time but I was told I was mumbling and apparently answering questions while gurgling blood.

Heres a bit of a freaky part. In the ambulance my heart stopped for 7 minutes. They pulled over. All the while my heart was stopped I was watching it all from above the ambulance and it felt like I was slowly driftng away...upwards. I remember looking out onto the wheat fields and thinking...not right now. And then BANG! there I was in the ER! I was a mess.
Severed arteries in my right hand, all ribs on left side broken at the front and off by the spine, 7 broken vertebrae, throacic artery hemhorage, [sp?] broken left collar bone, dislocated shoulder, fractured hips, badly fractured skull, tore the paracrdium off the heart, one rib in my left lung and the heart was very weak.
I was unable to move my legs for 3 wks in ICU and was in the hospital for 3 months! The very same day I got moved to recovery, I got up out of bed, hobbled to the pay phone RIGHT past the nurses station and ordered a pizza. I do believe God kept me here for a reason. I had several severe incidents during my wild drinking days. I was in another rollover 2 wks after I got out of the hospital. 120 mph

I am always reminded how lucky I am to do the sport I do and to be able to have what I have.
Many of my friends died from far less then what I had.

There ya go...

Scotty
