sad news

Just got off the phone with my youngest brother who lives in Fort Worth Tx.,
and is also one of their finest. We were finalizing some tentative plans for my family trip to Tx for the holidays when he informed me of the death of one of the officers that work with him in his sector. My brother stated the officer was doing a routine traffic stop when his cruiser was rear ended and burst into flames taking his life. I knew this kid personally and rode in with him on several occasions. A truly sad day and great loss to the law enforcement community, and the city of Fort Worth. My thought and prayers go out to his family and all his brothers and sisters on the job.

There just aren't fitting words in a situation like this . I've known of too many officers who have lost their lives . These men can't be appreciated enough .

I'm sorry to here about this. We should lay blame though on the moron behind the wheel who could not see the VERY bright flashing lights. We have lost several officers around Tennessee due to idiots not watching and moving over or even slowing down as they run 70mph right past the squad car. People are just Stupid drivers these days and this is what it costs, the loss of an innocent life, doing his duty to protect and help people.

My condolences are also with the family. Here in TX, we have a law requiring motorists in the adjacent lane from the cruiser to reduce their speed to 20 mph under the speed limit when they pass. Otherwise, they must change lanes to be at least one lane from the cruiser if they maintain the speed limit. That doesn't mean that they can't run off the road and hit the cruiser or the vehicle that is pulled over, as in this case.
When passing even a stalled car on the side of the road, I change lanes to give the people on the side all the room that I can. You never know when a kid, or someone working on the car is going to stumble into the roadway and into the path of the oncoming traffic.
Just the way I am.... Better safe than sorry...
