A sad day in our home town

It was a sad day in our home town,

Covina Motorcycle Police Officer, 28, Dies After Crash; Other Motorist Hospitalized

This happened about a mile from home yesterday, all of the streets were blocked off for about 9 hours while CHP led the investigation.

The police bike was headed Southbound supposedly in pursuit of another motorcycle when the lady in the minivan made a left turn in front of him hitting the bike head on, he was ejected from the bike and witnesses stated he hit the pavement face first, my wife was there first and says the other police responding to the accident did a grab and run and took him directly to the hospital about 2 blocks away in the back of a patrol car, the driver of the minivan was also taken th the same hospital.

His helmet lay in the forgound along with personal items scattered, I question the part about hitting face first.

BTW the bike was a BMW

Within hours of clearing the crash this makeshift memorial was erected, there is also one at the police station.

During and after the accident, the West Covina Police Dept from our neighboring city to the South offered and took over all of the calls and partols for our city so our police officers could be with the family.

Now the stories start to change.

In any case, this was a horrific accident.

RIP Jordan Corder

"Car turned left into the path of the motorcycle" describes the majority of the car vs motorcycle collisions.
I'd be checking the car driver's cell phone records................

HANG UP AND DRIVE!!

Very sad but so very common in todays world. The main reason I quit ridding a motorcycle in California. No matter how careful you are as a rider, sooner or later it will happen.

This is very sad. Never seen a motorcycle do so much damage to a vehicle. Prayers for the family.

I used to love bike riding, but quit for reasons like this. Would love to have another bike down here, but it is just too dangerous. Have a Ducatti 1100 sitting in my driveway that is rotting from not being ridden.

Same here, Sad sad sad.

I no longer ride on the street for some of the same reasons mentioned above. Unfortunately, for traffic cops, a bike is a great tool.
