other thing is quit drinking Gatorade/Powerade.

there are 4 servings in a Quart, 16 grams of sugar in a serving...

i was buying $50 worth of Gatorade about once a month, would fill garage fridge,
and pound them down.

just kept quart plastic bottles, and refill them with water.
drink 3 or 4 of them a day if i run.
more if mowing grass/working outside & sweating hard.

Not that I can talk my fastest time was 20:20. Though it only took me 23 with a 40lb pack. Man, those were the days. Now I would be lucky to run 1 mile in 23 min.

So was that 20:20 just you and then 23 with the 40lb pack. Thats pretty good to only loose a couple minutes adding 40lbs. My fastest 3.1 is 16:36. Id likely keel over and die if even tried to get under 20:00 these days.

Ive been looking for new running shoes. I might have to give these Asics a try.

The only thing I don't like about the Asics is they have some pretty "Hollywood" looks:

Mine are the first models and are LIME GREEN

I'd wear them if they were pink and polka-dotted-- they are worth it!

I have a ridiculously wide foot and the New Balance stuff kills my feet.

Nike not bad at all. Wearing some now, but think I may try the Brooks soon.

Shin Splints are a part of my life, Im afraid. The best cure for those I have found is to not run much. lol

You can get Asics in EE-- you need wider? 4E?
Might be easier to EDM some yourself

i been wanting to start a thread:

"where do NON gay, non rap star, straight, old people buy tennis shoes?"
there are some horrible looking homo-shoes out there.

my last ASICS were flamer blue. EVERYONE made fun of them.

i got 2E - and that width REALLY limits your selection in the "non rap star" department.

the Navy Exchange had lots of 2e, but only a few 4e Asics.

I got mine at the NEX at Pearl-- good selection for an NEX (that NEX is the exception, not the rule I'm told).

If I tried to get my old time I would get MAYBE one mile and then I would need an ambulance.

Re: 04ctd...

I try to stick with basic white, gray or maybe tan as the primary color for my shoes, but in the end, I guess it matters little. But the trim colors even, have gotten almost out of control. What's with a little taste in a good pair of running shoes anyway - would you want to wear some of these new styles to an interview?
