Even then, some people won't learn. Somehow I missed the memo that said the highway is made for racing and driving like an idiot.
Thanks Jack...
Another thing that I still don't understand.....
Fuel prices continue to climb...
You would never know by the way people drive.
Back when I still had my Peterbilt truck n transfer,
the difference between 70mph and 60mph was about 1 mpg.
If you run 8-10K a month, that extra gallon wasted can and will make you go hungry... it all adds up...fast..

I haven't seen the memo either, yet they're still out there.

I admit to "driving over" off duty when I worked the road, but myself and most guys I worked with stayed under what they allowed other drivers to do. With gas prices now, I almost never go any more than 5 over, even though I drive 75 miles to work. I also found a lot of people with detectors were actually within or close to tolerance when I hit them with the radar. Just let them go with a false sense of security. They become professional speeders, they'll get nailed at a better speed. They keep the same practice, they'll be all set. A lot of people don't realize they are actually being watched and speed estimated prior to that radar even going on. For the guys with the jammers, a good radar operator will know when someone is excessive and something is up. He can stop without the radar hitting and will know how to investigate it. Here there is no state law against a jammer, but without an FCC license, you are operating on a police frequency. A jammer is broadcasting, where a detector is only recieving. I've only caught one guy with one. Just take the serial number down and send a one page report to the federal prosecutor. A speeding ticket is probably a lot cheaper.

Well thanks for everybody who replied to my question, "What were the better radar detectors and how well they work".

I still haven't bought one, still might consider one.

Unfortunately in my view this thread got twisted way out of proportion.

People talking about going 100+MPH in construction zones??? Where on earth did you get this from?

Were my original posts read at all?

If you think that driving 10 MPH over the speed limit in a 60MPH on bald prarie during a 1000 mile round trip is the same as going 100 MPH in a construction zone, I'm sorry if I offended you somehow. (after all I have been pulled over for going 8 MPH over in a 60 on a clear sunny day, straight road, little traffic and making no other violation)

Personally I have way more beef with the guys that insist on MASHING ON IT in parking lots. Some sort of extension of their masculinity??? I see that all the time and it makes my blood boil.

Do we even need to mention the 100's of threads that are on this site regarding their "kills" and stop light to stop light drag racing????

Heck we have even had video doccumentation of high speed chases and clear out right dangerous driving.

Anyway, I'm not much for soap boxes.

Again thanks for the constructive help guys.

P.S Jack I appreciated your input as a former LEO and agree with and understand most of what you are saying.

p.s.s

Oh yeah, I'll just mention the fact that I am a class 1 driver, I also have zero points on my licence and have recieved no violations whatsoever in almost 5 years.

I have had 2 former speeding tickets over the years.

Thanks guys.
