spyder3634, I am like you on this. I am a current Valintine owner and it is the best I have owned.
I had a Passport and less than 3 mo later they come out with the 8500 model and can not be upgraded. Great, less than a week later and really not over too much 72 in a 70 and got bagged on a turn right after the REDUCE SPEED SIGN down to a 60 ZONE. Passport basically told me I was Bagged. It was at night and the Officer never saw the unit on the dash because I pulled it as he was comming on to traffic and in the console it went.
Long story short version, the Detector just keeps me & them honest. The most I regularly run is 7-8 over 72 in a 65, 78 in the 70. have not hit those really long runs posted @ 80, would not really go much over 85 there, if I ever see one. I was told they do exist in Texas and up in I think Montana.

The Valentine has out performed the Passport in a side by side personal test that I witnessed and I got the warning long before the Passport.

I will stick with what I got and recommend it to others..

Aren't many agencies using VASCAR anymore? Fifteen years ago I worked for the State Patrol (dispatch) I would ride along with the troopers on occasion. They used VASCAR quite a bit, even from airplanes in special zones. VASCAR is a time/distance computer which emits nothing for a detector to see. The trooper would be sitting 1/2 mile off the interstate on a side road and check people as they passed two landmarks. Then he'd zip onto the freeway behind the speeder who never even saw him sitting so far away. The plane was even more effective because they only indications were lines painted on the road every few hundred feet.
