Prince Rupert to Edmonton
Prince Rupert to Edmonton
Might jump off ferry at prince Rupert and was wondering if there are any major hills to worry about pulling a trailer toward Edmonton. Looks like most of it is valley/river.
Hey, there is about 8 decent hills between Prince Rupert and Edmonton. Can't remember but I think they are all 6 percent grade. There is one by Huston called Hungryman hill just long and can get a good run at it. The only one I would worry about is at the Goat River between Prince George and Mcbride you go down across a bridge then back up and around a corner not much of a run.
That is some good info. I will go right through your town I think. Wonder how that drive compares with the hills on the Alan between ft. Nelson and Skagway. Pretty good pull coming out of Skagway. Going to be pulling a 28' wells cargo weighing about 13k. Just want to take easiest route possible enroute to bama. This will be July.
taylor should give u a run for your money. out by Fort Saint John on the canadian part of the alaska. its not long but there is a part of it thats 10%. outside of GP there is the Benzanson crossing, its not bad as long as its dry. if you catch it after a snow storm they might ask you if you have chains. grades not bad but the whole crossing is about 20km long. between fox creek and whitecourt its bumpy more of a pain in the a$$

running between rupert and edmonton, you'll find some hills, but nothing like the 4-seasons coming out of skagway. That is one of the meanest pulls going.
I don't see any real problems, unless you hit weather, just take your time.

Wrong again - - it is the ALASKA HIGHWAY - - Alcan WAS the name of it many years ago.
I ran that highway after coming off the ferry pulling a 37' - 16,000 pound fiver - - it is not bad. If you have the time, be sure to hit Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff while up that way - - that scenery is almost as good as Alaska. Pending the time of year, there is a good glacier trip in the middle of the Glacier Highway between Jasper and Lake Louise. It was snowing up there with some of the biggest flakes I have ever seen - - they would knock you down if they hit you. ??? Well, almost. LOL Cars were in the ditch, motorcycles abondoned beside the road with their helmits sitting on top of the seat. Pretty tough, but we just took our time and did fine.

Have had all the glaciers (mendenhall glacier is visible out my back window) and snowflakes I can handle. But I do intend on doing some camping on the way through that country though. Folks say I am crazy for wanting to get back to 100 degree summers. Gonna check out banff for sure.
