Power steering

I am finishing up tring to fix a Dakota V-8 steering issue. It started with poor steering performance. So I changed the pump, still had the problem. Then the rack still not fixed,so I figured a bad rack,I had good pressure from the pump.So a new rack goes in again.Well it seems better but there is still sticking points as I turn the wheel. Maybe I still have air in the sysytem, but how do I make sure its all out. Any Ideas let me have em. Thanks Guys.

Sounds kinda like air in the system. How are you bleeding it?

Jack the front end of the truck off the ground so that both front tires are up and can turn back and forth from lock to lock without anything blocking the wheel motion.
With the vehicle running, fill the pump to its full line and then slowly turn the wheels all the way to one side then slowly turn it all the way back to the other side. Do this several times.
After doing that, lets say 10 times, bring the wheels back to straight alignment and check the oil level of the pump. If its very low, as if you cant even see fluid in the pump, add some oil and burp the system again. Do this till the oil reservoir is at a normal running level.
If there is to much oil, extract it from the reservoir with a small hand pump or what I do, cause I have no hand pump, get a CLEAN shop rag, twist it up so that its rolled up in a way and insert it into the reservoir and "absorb-remove" the oil.

You're likely to have a lot of burping and spilling so be prepared to make a mess.

Good luck.
