Pork Chops, Mom's Style.
Today while working I decided tonight that I would try to cook something my mother cooked for us while growing up. (I'm trying, nothing I ever do comes close to her cooking)
This is what I did, or am doing.
Browned pork chops on both sides in a deep pan then turned the heat down to simmer.
Then I added pre-mixed cream of mushrom soup. mmmm yum yum
Then I cut an onion into rings and layed them on top of it all added a little black pepper, then placed a lid on top allowing it to simmer for about 1.5 hrs or more if desired. (It doesnt matter how long one cooks it simmering this way)
My other item is brown rice.
The other is cut green beans. (pre heated out of the can)
This time I decided to add an additional green... steamed brockley, (this was not part of the original plate) Nor was the brown rice. I think we had salad and mashed potatoes, but oh well. I watched ratatouille and am feeling a little spunky.
I havnt had any of my dinner yet... and am hungry
Has Anybody ever ate pork chops cooked similar to this way? I still have at least 1/3 hr.

Who hasn't eatin' them that way growing up?
Another good way is to add in some Orange Juice with some Brown Sugar and Mustard instead of the Creme of Mushroom, sort of like cooking a ham.

Sounds good! Had pork chops tonight but they were done on the grill and had a little home made bbq sauce on them.

Another way, is brown the chops, as you discribe, then in a casaroll dish, rub bottom and sides with butter, or veggi oil, sprinkle in a paket of lipton's onion soup mix add the brown rice and water, lay the chops on top of the rice, cover bake 1 hour @325, uncover, put on whatever soup topping you like and bake for 15 more minuits uncoverd.

Did 4 stuffed pork chops from a Cajun Specialty Store. They had a lot of cajun spices on them.
Browned each chop on both side about 4 min/side
Buttered caserol dish.
Only had minute rice on hand, works fine. 3 cups rice 3 cups water.
Did not use any onion soup as there was enought spices on meat.
Baked covered 1 hour, uncover 15 minutes, not soup added for topping.
If you like Cajun, this works great.
Next time when I brown chops I think I will add onions and some green pepper.
Time for leftovers.
