What a real piece of work this lawyer is. If you dont want to say the pledge, dont. Dont force this stupid crap on the rest of the people. This burns me up!

I heard about it while eating lunch at Taco Bell and it took everything I had to stop myself from saying what I wanted to. This is just flat out stupid. I keep hearing people say that Americans need to ban together and become one but how can you do that when you have things like this happening. Whether you were born in America or whether you moved here, you should have the RIGHT to say the pledge. If you don't want to, then don't. If you do, then do. The pledge is not forcing religion on kids. I got an idea to make everyone happy. Instead of using the word God in the pledge, use whatever you call your god instead. That way you wouldn't be enforcing any one religion on the kids. What really gets me is this guy is an Atheist. So he doesn't believe in God. Big whoop. Some of us do and I for sure am not ashamed to admit it. When I was a little kid, I never once felt that I was being forced to believe in God. I felt that it was my right as a human being and an American to choose whether or not I believe in him. If saying God in the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America is unconstitutional, then when are they gonna take "In God We Trust" off of all the currency? Isn't that unconstitutional as well? It is implying that there is only one God right and that we should trust him? This country is going to the dogs pretty quickly. So when's the colony on Mars going to be setup? I'm gonna need somewhere else to move to once the USA goes down.
I dont necessarily believe in god, but i understand both blue and this lawyer. the nationally recognized pledge leads you to pledge your allegiance 'under one god,...' If you believe in no, or many gods you're outta luck and cannot make with that pledge.
I dont care either way cus it's a pledge I will uphold regardless of who its said to. not that i even agree with pledging my allegiance to a country run by politicians...but that's neither here nor there. I am smart enough to say either, "under no god" or "under the gods", and know it means the same thing.
btw, some lawyers NEED this, so they have a job. they're called Vasser graduates.

By them doing this they are in a way violating the first amendment. Like many have already said if someone doesn't want to recite the pledge of allegiance, no one is holding a gun to their head and making them do it.

Yes, but the more feeble-minded among us will give that judge's opinion undue weight, and will be swayed.
The largest weakness of our American governmental system is that it relies heavily upon the assumption that those who would occupy judicial positions would hold the Constitution sacred, thoroughly understand it, and be people of virtue that would be bound by it. This, because the judiciary is the most power branch of government wrt accountability to the people.
True, Congress can always go back and change the law, but why to we constantly have to write NEW laws that SAY THE SAME THING as the old ones, just because some Officers of the Court don't understand the principles that were central to our Republic's founding.

I dont consider myself feeble-minded . This judge stopped 3 schools from being able to say the pledge. Seems pretty ''weighty '' to me. Maybe to others it is not a big deal. It will go to the supreme court ,but as of now the pledge is gone at those schools.
The students in our local school (Hastings Michigan) were told at their last graduation that they could not say a prayer or the alegance at their graduation ceramony.
Couldn't have been prouder when they, on cue, stood up and said the allegance and a prayer.
If there was anyone in attendance that didn't like it they didn't stand up and say anything. But in the rural community we live in there are a lot of "corn fed" boys who surely would have been waiting for any "desenters" in the parking lot.

Would you mind if the entire class turned towards Mecca and prayed to Mohammed and your child was the one who didn't?
And to anticipate the next post, no, this is not a 'Christian country'. It is a nonsectarian country, and any pledges led in public schools should also be nonsectarian.

Yep. So much for "If you dont want to say the pledge, dont."

i would tell my child not to pray if he did not feel comfortable doing it. i would not suggest he get some blood sucking lawer to drag it into court and make a big stink over something that is accepted, nation wide.
