On the night of January 25 2004, two cars crashed into each other on M72 in Grand Traverse County Michigan, leaving a family with 4 young children devastated.
A woman was killed; her boyfriend, Randy Elkins and his four children were left seriously injured.
10 year old Brittany is paralyzed from the waist down. 11 year old Eden is paralyzed from the chest down and 4 year old Natasha has a broken neck. 2 year old Tegan is out of the hospital with a broken collar bone.
The two older girls are facing a long period of healing and therapy. They were transferred to The University of Michigan Hospital 250 miles from their family.
The family is facing a mountain of medical bills, and they can use all the help they can get. Let’s all get together and try to help these little babies in the only way we can.
Please send a donation to help these beautiful children, Natasha, Eden, Brittany and Tegan. You can use the donation button at the top of the page if you wish, please mention the “Elkins fund” in the note area.
Or you can send me a check here, with the word “Elkins” in the note area on the check. I will forward your donations to the family.
This is a tremendous tragedy that I am sure all of us would not want to enter our own lives. These little children should be enjoying life, not stuck in a hospital bed.
Your donations can help them get the care they need, and hopefully bring a small ray of sunshine into their tragic lives.
Thank You for taking a moment to help.

I would assume that the girls were buckled up when the accident happened. Our news services almost always report when an accident victim is not buckled up, and nothing was ever mentioned about that.

Man. I guess I should consider myself lucky. My sister was in a very bad accident on Saturday. Totaled her car. She broadsided a Tahoe at ~60mph. The cop said it was amazing that they lived. My sympathies go out to the family of these children.
Thanks for the post, Phillip. I will add new information as it becomes available. Things have been quiet the last couple of weeks. I do not know the family personally, so I don't have a direct contact there. But I will be happy to pass along anything that I find out. I do know that the next-to-the-youngest girl, with the broken neck, is now home as well as the baby. They are both expected to make a full recovery. The two older girls, the ones most seriously hurt, are still in the University of Michigan Hospital.

Thats ashame that those 2 babies are in that condition. I myself am in a wheelchair due to a auto accident that left me paralyzed from waist down happened Dec.23,1982. They will get well quickly being that young and yes they do have a long hard road ahead of them lots of learning how to do things all different. My prayers are gonna be sent there way.
