Don't know of any ups to the area, but the biggest down that I can think of is that it's in the People's Republik of Commiefornia. If you're thinking of moving, I can think of a lot better (and more affordable) places to move than there.

Thanks for the reply, I am not moving there, my son wants to go there for the summer, his cousin is out there, (he is an idiot) so I am uneasy of the whole arrangement.

Thanks,

Tim

LOL!!! My cousin went out there last summer. He's smoked a few too many bowls and has lost his way. Went from cowboy to hippie and now he's stuck somwehre in between. I can undersand your frustration.

My son is pretty level headed, buuuuuuuuuut, you never know, . I never hit any of that stuff at that age, I did however try to put Budweiser out of business, .

Oxnard is like anywhere else in CA. Every town is a scene. I grew up in San Diego back when it was a beautiful place. Went back a few years ago and spent over half my time in a car in traffic! I really have no interest in ever going back, except for the California girls (I married one) and the Mexican food is outstanding!

I think it depends on how u feel about the cousin. Its like any place else. u can stay out of trouble are u can get waist deep in it. But there is tons of fun(legal) stuff to do in so cal. Beach, Desert, Snow, Horses, Hiking etc. etc. I hear you Kurtaing, traffic here sucks and is getting worse. But that just means that more people are moving here so it can't be all bad. No joke about the women and the Mex food, SO HOT. San Diego Rules!!

wife's from so cal, and says it's a pretty nice area on the beach. for all you rockford files fans, oxnard was where rocky was looking to buy a semi, so he could do some hot shotting.

I live about 3 hours north of Oxnard.
It's a big city, on the coast, not far from Malibu really.
Expensive to live there, lots of traffic, near a lot of surf spots.
It's a nice city, if you like cities.
Within striking distance of Santa Barbara, and L.A.
If he's a surfer, he'd be in heaven. Most guys wear wetsuits however.
You'd get the Southern California experience there for sure....

Sounds like it will be a fun place to visit for a few months, maybe the wife will let me go with him.

Thanks,

Tim

Rebel,

Everytime someone mentions California there has to be one of these comments. Sheesh. I'm glad you won't be bringing you're hatred out here for a visit.

Thanks for your service. Oh, and who are you fighting for?
