Not a good sign

Our quiet little town in now getting Orwellian technology.

Some call it Big Brother, others call it a crime-fighting tool, but new watchful eyes will start cropping up in Covina as the Police Department installs surveillance cameras that will watch and record its downtown, its public parks and eventually its schools.

Then comes the facial recognition software.

http://www.sgvtribune.com/government...n-public-parks

The Police Department has not created a policy for using the system yet, but Parrish said abuse will not be tolerated.

I really feel safe when the department will create the policy for using the cameras after they are installed.

I do not think the public had too much say at this meeting, you would think someone would have had a brain

I am amazed how stupid the public really is, tell them it will make them safer to let someone monitor your every move and they fall for it, like all of the wireless surveillance systems on the market where the data is stored on their cloud.

People still tell me "If you are not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about."

I wonder it they will remember that when they are being lead off to be made into small green biscuits.

Just wear your obama mask around town, maybe they'll get the hint. Or not.

I can't tell you what I'd like to tell people when they tell me that, I'd get banned.

I hear you, it is the same thing I say to Sergie Vodkalot or whatever his name is one of the co-founders of Google when he says our future will include mass transit because it is more efficient...........

I do have to wonder if it is because we are getting older and more crotchety, or the world is breeding more idiots that need to have their nose punched.

We are being led by people that are educated well beyond their native intelligence. They also have no idea what reality is.

I think I'll now bring home 3T of class 1 on the bus.

ah, solient green will solve the political problem of too many people with a brain.

more room for the uninvited currently here......

actually, systems work for the better as most crime has zero witnesses.
(I ain't no nothing)

we use to get the same service with a cop walking a beat.

I figure I can just wear an old crash fire suit....come up through the sewer system at different locations.

It's like traffic cameras. I'd love to see someone write the governor's and some senators' plate numbers on a piece of cardboard, hold it in front of the cameras, then play traffic cop and have some people run the red lights.
Wouldn't work in Iowa though. They have plates that are untraceable- that go to congressmen, governor, and some other government positions. There was enough uproar a while back they decided to fix it. By making fewer of them available.

No it's because the kids that are going through the school systems are being told the Goverment knows best and to let them handle it.

I second the punch but it should be to the throath

Chicago supposedly has the most working Security & Surveillance camera's out of all the US cities but they say their crime rate hasn't dropped.

This is from The Chicago Tribune News "The government of Britain, where cameras are ubiquitous, concluded they have had "no overall effect" on crime.
Researchers at the University of Southern California looked at two neighborhoods in Los Angeles and found no visible benefit from this sort of surveillance."

I like having my home camera system and my dash cam will pay for itself someday but as far as wiring the rest of the world goes I don't like it.

It's nothing but a way to eventually control you. And an easy way to stalk you.
