No Dodges CTD! What kind of life is it?...

I am on a trip to Japan and have not yet seen a single vehicle here like ours. What's up with that?! Only puny cars. But, every single one has got a small LCD screen in it with either cartoons going or a nav system. And, drivers can see the screens with cartoons too! Wondering how safe this is.

If I lived in Japan I wouldn't drive a truck like mine either. I'm not sure I could find a place to park it.

I'm probably going in a few years, and I'll park it where ever I want!

Nice avatar, Rbuchana! I want one...

Same thing for a LOT of Europe. Mopeds and tiny cars.

I have had a lot of friends that get stationed over there, and they say that the Japanese will pay big bucks for a truck like ours.

I bet they would! They are too efficient, but I bet they would pay to be a little wild once in a while! (Not sure how soon one would get arrested for making smoke with a smarty though )
I would like to go to a Toyota dealership and see if they have the Megacruiser though. This is one car I wouldn't mind having in the U.S., myself. Too bad they don't let import those. And they cost a fortune too
P.S. I am going to Yokota AFB tomorrow, anybody want me to say Hi to anyone there?

I dont think that a Dodge 2500 would be streetable in some parts of Japan. I have been twice and even in one of the matchbox cars that they drive, some of the roads are extremely scary. The people drive kind of crazy to boot. It is a totaly different world over there. The automatic carwash moves on tracks around your car instead of you driving your car into the carwash. I would be scared that my truck would be damaged at some point over there.

I am currently stationed in Japan and the Navy would not allow me to bring my truck over here. You wouldn't want to either, there are very few parking spaces any where you go and virtually none that would accomodate a vehicle like ours. Trucks that are considered "big rigs" over here are not much bigger than our trucks. Most people ride mopeds or motorcycles some have very small cars like the Smart Car. Housing around here is very condensed and very few offer parking spots, those that do make you pay through the nose for a parking space that will barely fit Honda civic.

I was offered 30K for my truck here in Guam. not sure if the guy was serious or not, cause I gave him my number and he didn't call. but anyways, the Japanese tourists here are constantly pointing and snapping pictures of my truck, even today, I have the pizza cutters and no front bumper on it ,and they still took pics

I went to Singapore many, many years ago. I dont recall seeing anything resembling an 18 wheeler. Most were small box vans. Locals told my anything over 3.0 litres was severely taxed. That included commercial vehicles. The ex-pat I was staying with had a BMW 7 series with a 6 cylinder in it. I think I saw only two Porches the whole time I was there (2 weeks) and they were at the former Presidents house (Li Quan Iou (sp)) just down the street from where I was staying. This was at the time the Ram started coming out with the 8.0 litre V10. They could not understand why we needed something so large. Of course their whole contry is about the size of New York city.

And as bad as our fuel prices are, theirs are worse. It would take at least a month's pay to fill the tank.

I understand a teacher in Japan makes about $200,000 a year. But they definitely need to make that much if a house comes with a 100 year mortgage.
