Verizon Wireless Navigation

I really want some type of navigation system, and now I see that Verizon wireless has navigation on their phones.....Anyone here have that service?? Is it any good? I currently have cingular, and I plan to switch back to Verizon next month....Just wondering if the navigation is worth getting? I'm not gonna be using it daily, but would like it for occasional travel....Who has it and how is it??

I have a buddy in Maryland that uses Verizon. It works great for him there. When he visits his mom in Boseman, MT, it works fine. But if he comes by here in OK, he has to be on or near a major freeway or in a larger city to get service. He barely gets analog service at my house, but I get full digital service with Cingular. Verizon has some nice features and does alot of advertising, but you ask anyone here with a phone and its either Cingular, Alltel, or AT&T (Part of cingular now)

My friend just got it this week, and LOVES IT!!!!

I got the chance to play with it yesterday. It will talk the directions to you, re-calc the route if you deviate from the original route.

Locates most anything, and even gives the phone number in case you want to call the place.

Its pretty cool!

I thought the phone needed a GPS signal to get its position, and didn't require a cell phone signal. Do they?

I think most new cell phones have GPS receivers in them from the factory (both of mine do), though they're used mostly for 911-call location information, and not giving driving directions.

Im aware of Verizons service...I've had them before and they seem to be the best....I switched to cingular because of a customer service issue I had with them Im only switching back because EVERYONE has Verizon and the out of network fees are costing me an arm and both legs....

Navigation both sats and airtime...But im wondering how much??? Is it accurate and does it work well?? Pro and cons of this vs a stand-alone nav unit like Tom-Tom?? Like I said, it wont be used daily...But it would be nice to have...

I have verizon and used the navigation free trial on my chocolate. It was good the one time I used it to find my house. But I didnt renew it cuz I dont need it. Verizon has some of the best if not the best coverage in the midwest area.

it's about $10 extra a month and worked great for us. I just didn't like how you navigate it, on a cell phone not so easy. And at $10 a month you'd be better off getting a stand alone one.
