New Low for bunny huggers!

'Your mommy kills animals'
PETA activists to give fliers to kids whose moms wear fur

Animal-rights activists across the nation are planning to single out children who are unlucky enough to have mothers who wear fur by giving them fliers at performances of "The Nutcracker" ballet saying, "Your Mommy Kills Animals."

The fliers feature a woman stabbing a terrified rabbit in the belly with a bloody knife, reports the Boston Herald. Text on the pamphlets urges kids to "ask your mommy how many dead animals she killed to make her fur clothes."

"Children can't look up to a mom in a battered-raccoon hat or a crushed coyote collar,'' Ingrid Newkirk, president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, told the paper. "Maybe when they're confronted by their own children's hurt looks, fur-wearers' cold hearts will melt.''

According to the report, the fliers even urge children to protect their pets from mom: "The sooner she stops wearing fur, the sooner the animals will be safe. Until then, keep your doggie or kitty friends away from mommy – she's an animal killer.''

Child psychologist Dr. Carolyn Newberger decried the tactic.

"It's using children in the worst possible way,'' she told the Herald. "If (the activists) want to legitimately work to protect animals from destruction for fashion, they have every right to. But to do so by targeting children and making them feel their mothers are murderers is absolutely unconscionable.''

According to PETA national coordinator Lisa Franzetta, activists will descend on Christmas performances of "The Nutcracker" in as many as 20 cities across the U.S.

The paper says Franzetta acknowledged the anti-fur campaign might spark a backlash.

"It's definitely provocative; I will give you that,'' she said.

Now I may be wrong, but I would not think that "freedom of speech" involves giving anti parent material to children. I would be talking to a lawyer fast.

yes, and where we live, no one will be handing anything to my children. most folks here are good people and stay clear of those they do not know.

People amaze me...forcing their beliefs or values on others.

Sad really.

These people are well known to the authorities, as are members of Greenpeace, EarthFirst and ELF. What hasn't been done is actually capturing them committing an act of terror. The feds would like nothing more than capturing on tape an ELF member setting an suv dealership on fire as they've successfully done in Oregon.

I hope to heck that I NEVER run into one of thos people. I will shove that pamphlet right where the sun don't shine. > > Do they figure that they have to target the childs' mind because that is the only age they can communicate with? WHO or WHAT gives them that right to push their views down a childs throat? Just because you are wearing fur doesn't mean you went out and harvested it. How would they know it is real or fake? It would be rather difficult to accuse someone of killing a "fake" animal. Not too far from here there is a Navy ELF (extremely low frequency) transmitter station that is used to "talk" to subs all over the world. Every so often a group like that gets a wild hair up their and trespasses in order to damage the antenna by cutting down the poles. Once there was even a tape made and it was confiscated and played on the local news. Why do people do that? There is no doubt that the damage will be repaired. All they accomplished was getting to pay Uncle Sam a fine and have a permanent record. Really makes it worth while, don't it?

My Catahoulas need a wee bit of practice out in the field. Suppose we could round a few of these jokers up for bait? **snicker**

One other thing that comes to mind is, How are these kooks getting access to our kids?

If one of these PITA/PETA folks came near one of mine, they'd better be concerned for their own skin.

Gee officer, I saw this guy reaching for my kid, so I tackled him. Never saw the paper in his hand. I guess my knee pressed against his mouth kinda muffled his voice. I sure hope he's ok. Maybe all the mink in the world will send him a gat well soon card.

Re:New Low for bunny huggers!

I just don't even know how to respond to the ignorant people that come up with this stuff. Maybe before they publish this garbage they should watch a pack of coyote track and dispatch an elk or deer the last time I elk hunted in Montana every elk and deer track was filled with a coyote tracking them. The fur market is so low now that these animals are becoming overpopulated. I guess I will take my share for not educating the younger people better. I do swear though that if I were raising children today I would likely spend a good deal of my time in jail and court I could not allow these idiots to force their values on my children without a fight. >

O.K. John go to the cabinet take the blue pill wash it down with a barley pop there you should feel better soon. Put the soap box back in the barn.

Re:New Low for bunny huggers!

"barley pop"

MMMMM Beeeeeeer!

"Catahoulas"

MMMMMMM Huntin Dawgs

PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals)

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Tasty Animals!!!

Recipe:
Take one pack of Huntin Dawgs to your taste
Track down some Tasty Animals
Eat them them while Drinking a cold Beer

Now on a serious note.....The best defense against these people is education. Everyone of us that hunts, traps, or just like to eat meat should take every oportunity to inform those around them of the naturalness of hunting etc. My 3 1/2 year old knows I hunt. He likes to watch me clean the bunnies (though he has only seen the in sink final wash.....so far)

Steppin off the soap box now

Re:New Low for bunny huggers!

My 2 1/2 year old son has seen the whole process of me cleaning birds and watched while I butchered an elk this past November. For several weeks afterward, he wanted to know if there was a "big elk" in the garage. One of his favorite things to to with PaPa is go "hunting, big hunting. Deer hunting, elk hunting, duck hunting." That is order he goes through them when I ask what he wants to do. BTW, he also loves eating elk, deer AND duck.

If one of these loonies even approaches Ivan, he will be picking his posterior up off the pavement. Like Redleg said, I didn't see a paper in his hand.

WE have so many of those ELF wackos in WA and OR it makes me wanna puke!

Carl
