New Low for bunny huggers!
Re:New Low for bunny huggers!
Animal-rights activists across the nation are planning to single out children who are unlucky enough to have mothers who wear fur by giving them fliers at performances of "The Nutcracker" ballet saying, "Your Mommy Kills Animals."

"....and that's when I hit him Your Honor!"
Re:New Low for bunny huggers!
Since I don't have kids my opinion is just that-an opinion.
I wouldn't make my kids stay at home on days like these. They should listen to what these folks have to say and when they want to discuss that back home, I'd talk to them about my opinion on this. Kids growing up in a good family are very stable. I think that especially the first encounter with the ..... part of living should take place under a controlled environment amd not somewhere under a bridge in the hood with some scumbag......

Oh goody, now we are entering an area of psychology and psychiatry for arguments and disagreements.
This could be fun ;D We may need a whole new thread for this one.
AlpineRam, playing the devils advocate for a moment, suppose your kids went to school and listened to some drivel and did NOT discuss it when they came home. How would you even know what is going on in their minds? What if a bad seed was planted, just waiting for fertilizer and water somewhere down the road. Yes, I agree very much that it is necessary for kids to get the story from all sides, but how are you going to ensure that the kids get a balanced story to make a judgement? Remember, the agenda of a lot of fringe groups and various dubious causes are very cleverly geared to get thru the undeveloped defenses of the growing child. So with that in mind, would it not be better for them not to hear what you know for sure is trash?

Re:New Low for bunny huggers!
With 5 children I guess I'll throw another 02 in here. They are all grown thank goodness so they now have thier own to fret about now. As far as letting the little ones listen to this garbage I don't think so. There is a reason that children stay at home for 17 and more years and that is because it takes that amount of time to properly raise them. Part of that raising is to selectively filter the type of things they are exposed to and to gradually introduce them to the world. If it is O.K. to expose them to these self serving activists and let them judge for themselves, then why not pornography and violence Etc... I think that we as parents have the right and duty to expose our children to the philosophy of others as we deem them mature enough to accept the opinions of others as just that. Each of my children accepted that responsibility at different times and my wife and I accepted our roles as the judge of when each was ready. I do agree with Alpine on the point that some of this learning should be done under a controlled inviroment and I will controll that inviroment. I am comfortable with the responsibility of raising my children as good and decent human beings that is my duty, I can not imagine fulfilling that duty if I were to expose them to someone that would call there Mother a murderer , communist, war monger or whatever may shock them into thinking that they have a valid cause and opinion.
BTW the blue pill I mentioned in the earlier post was not viagra on the contrary with 5 children a diet containing more salt peter would have been better

Re:New Low for bunny huggers!
eieio, raising five children succesfully is a challange. Been there and done it. No police records, no dope, no alcohol problems. It takes a lot of work, some luck, and standing up to idoit's as they try to make or break you kids. If you don't stand up for your kids, no one else will. I have to agree with you, I would not let them be exposed to that mess, and probably would be in jail if they found a way.
"and that's when I hit him, your Honor" very well put. My youngest is 26, but I bet the school still cringes each time they see my go by, thinking I am coming in to discuss a problem. We had our moments. A couple of my kids did not go smoothe but we got it done with the help of God and a lot of work.
In all due respect, Alpine, kids do not always tell you these things to discuss, they just sort of pack it away in the gray matter. The latest child always gets the better deal, sometimes that includes some sibling jealousy. Cause you learn from each one and do it better with the last one.

Well heres my 2c worth. I raised two great kids who were not much trouble at all, they knew where i stood on most everything that had to do with God ,country, and the fringegroups. They like about 70% of the people in this country can see that mostly it is the same people at all these marches etc. They are there because they don't Work and don't like the fact that this is America and we have the freedom in this country to Kill animals ,eat them and then wear the fur. :'(We can carry a Gun to protect our families or hunt with it ,drill for oil or drive a Diesel smokin truck ,worship God and even speak about Him,and have a plastic Jesus on the dashboard of our car. They think we should all fall into line and drive a UGO and embrace their version of political correctness completely.
Ain't happnin.So :'( :'( :'( America she's The Beautiful

The do gooders and the lawyers with their own selfish money grabbing agenda will make sure that there is a permanent closed season for hunting bunny huggers. They will make sure that whatever you do is in the wrong. :'( Even if you are right you will be wrong.

Stright from the PETA site:
"PETA believes that animals deserve the most basic rights—consideration of their own best interests regardless of whether they are useful to humans. Like you, they are capable of suffering and have interests in leading their own lives; therefore, they are not ours to use—for food, clothing, entertainment, or experimentation, or for any other reason."
The members of PETA are a confused, delusional, out of touch with reality, group of hypocrites and terrorist. >
They have every right to speak their point of view
in public, but stalking children is not part of the 1st Amendment.
Quetions I'd like to ask one of them:
Let me get this straight. It's OK for every other animal on the planet to kill another animal for food except humans ???
What does PETA recomend if you have a rodent problem in you house, move out ???
If members of PETA drive cars, aren't you exploiting the remains of the dinosaurs ???
I need to test a new cancer drug, can I borrow your child for research, since using animals would be wrong ???

Re:New Low for bunny huggers!
Well, I'd like to say that there may be some difference between basic teaching rules between Austria and the US- we never had extremists of any kind having the possibility to talk during lessons- it was something different if some group asked for permission to use the school after hours and invited to events for their cause- still having to obey the rules for schools.
I am for treating animals ethically- when you use them. I think that there is an ethical difference between me and a cat. A cat will play with a mouse and kill it very slowly. I do try to make it quick and painless, and that's what I do hope for my death to be too.

There probably is a difference--in most cases it's the teachers in the U.S. who deliver the extremism, not outsiders. And sometimes not extremism, just political correctness run amok. For example, I was in Las Vegas for vacation last week, and I read a letter to the editor from a grandmother whose grandchild was in a Christmas pageant at school. They were singing songs, but the teachers taught them the carols with a bunch of wrong words. When she tried to tell the grandkid that she was taught the wrong words, and the songs didn't actually go like that, the kid's response was to ask why her teacher would teach them like that, then. So even though kids will amaze you sometimes with how smart they are, they're still kids and trying to figure out the world and how it works. Obviously you want them to consider a teacher to be an authority figure so they'll learn something, but what happens when the authority figures collide?
