I posted a while back about my Toyota Tacoma with the frame rust issue. Toyota gave me 7845 for the truck. I then went out and got this little jem. 1982 Mercedes 240D. 2.4 liter 4 cyl diesel, 4 speed manual trans.

 

from what Ive heard, those mercedes cars are good to 250,000 plus. dunno, but its a nice looking ride.

 

Sweet. I just picked up a nice low mileage 1986 300E. Unfortunately it is not a 300D but it is still nice.

 

So how long before you bomb the Mercedes

There's not alot that's bombable on those things. I've had a few, and you're really limited to a few pump tweaks. There's a guy on one of the M-B sites that twisted a 300D turbodiesel to 146HP on #2 alone and he got a standing ovation. Besides, the tranny is a real weak link.

Just kick back, relax, brew a cup of coffee and wait until it hits 65mph.

 

I dont think I would bomb it much more than maybe a turbo

 

the clocks a trip. don't see those in cars to much anymore.

Bingo, this thing is a real dog, but at 34mpg I think I'll just leave it be.
