New Braunfels?
New Braunfels?
Just wanted to see how many DTR members are going to new braunfels this weekend? I am headed down there friday evening and heard that the river was pretty low. Anyone know if it is too low to float? Let me know what yall've heard.
I'm going up there Sat morning for a meeting, but it is far away from any water.
I expect the water IS low since that area is BADLY in need of much rain.
A ham radio buddy that lives on the W. side of Austin had his water well go dry on him yesterday! He uses very little being single, yet it's never done that before in 20+yrs of living in this spot. He's going to haul city water from his rent house in Austin proper...
There is a phone number that most tubers(not potatoes) probably know by heart that they can call to get the latest official info on River and Lake conditions.
Try calling one of the toobing places and ask them if they remember the number.

As for the river being low. I was there about a month ago and people were carrying their tubes over the rocks. It looks to be about 5 feet or more low. Things can change in a month though.
My g/f went with some of her friends last weekend and said they made it 1/4 mile in 3.5 hours on the Guadalupe. They couldn't even tube their normal spot as it was dry. And they said the water was pretty low, so expect to bounce across plenty of rocks.

A few of us from Beaumont went last weekend. We floated the Comal river on Friday and did the Schliterbahn thing on Saturday. The Comal was low, but we were able to float the length from Texas Tubes all the way to the last tube exit only bumping our butts a few times. It's still good and cold! Note: only drinks in cans are allowed on the river. No glass or mixed drinks.
The police had a small "checkpoint" set up near the Comal Condos checking coolers and drinkers ages. I saw a few MIP's and a ticket for glass bottles. Overall, it was a great trip.
