Yup. Texas country is where it's at folks. Although Pat Green went to nashville and CCR is close to doing the same. Jack Ingram is also getting close to going Nashville.

Yea Pat sold out. I remember going and seeing him in CO before anyone knew him at all. 50 people in a bar, dancing and drinking. Still some of the best concerts I've ever been to. Saw CCR this last summer when I was home.

Texas Music = All about the music
Nashville Music = All about the Benjamins ($)

Yeah, I'm OUT on Ragweed's last CD. I haven't found a song I like yet...unlike all their other CD's which I like almost all of them. Hopefully they go back to Texas and remember what they started like!

Lately I've been hooked Robert Earl Keen and Steve Earle (not all Country, but hey)

I'm just impressed you Texas boys like CCR (Ragweed)! You know Stillwater is where they started and Cody Canada used to date and ex of mine? Cody and I had lots of drinks over that one!

And I couldn't make it though the whole "Beer (scream) Beer (scream) song. That is a waste of talent right there.

Garth and Top 40 music stinks. Merle, Waylon, Tom T. Hall, Roger Miller, Hank, DAC, are just a few of the real men of country. Not to mention the newer REK, CCR, PAT Green (most songs), Jason Boland, and the other turkeys that I like.

My $.02. Heck, that was more like $.15. Sorry.

www.possumspeckerband.com These guys really rock too.....if I don't say so myself. I'm the skinny one!!!

Reckless KellyL: Seven Nights In Ireland

"The first pub we could stagger to was twelve steps from the plane
A Virgin flight to Shannontown the day it didn’t rain
The laughing eyes of Ireland sparkling blue and green
With hair as black as Guinness stout and barely seventeen
We’re back out on the cobblestones
Whiskey drunk and high again
Liquored up and gearing up for seven nights in Ireland

The corner booth is waiting for the session to begin
It’s quiet as a mother’s prayer ‘till we all stumble in
And it’s fifty happy voices mixed with whistles made of tin
And a piper man is blowing like the North Atlantic wind

And an Aran island beauty is sawing on the violin
I wonder will she miss me after seven nights in Ireland

It’s Ladies’ Day in Galway and we watched the ponies run
Fifty pounds against the odds and came in six to one
McSwiggin heard the race report, he invited us on in
So we drank Catholic whiskey with all our newfound friends

Reckless Kelly: Drink Your Whiskey Down

When trouble comes knockin'
Beatin' down your front door
When the devil starts stalkin'
One thing holds the cure

Drink your whiskey down
Put sorrow in the ground
Drink your whiskey down
When no life can be found
Drink your whiskey down!

If you've had an evil woman
Use you and leave you for dead
Don't hang your head in sorrow
Just pick up that bottle instead

Drink your whiskey down
Put sorrow in the ground
Drink your whiskey down
When no life can be found
Drink your whiskey down!

Aaron Watson: Lonley Lubbock Nights

I was singing at the ol’ Broken Spoke
I could have swore she came walking in
Forgot the words to a song that I wrote

Must be losing my mind once again
Her daddy is a southern Baptist preacher
I had to choose her or the bars where I sang
Now when I call I can’t seem to reach her
I’m gonna find her if it’s the last thing

Chorus:
So I’ll drive all night long
Till I find where we went wrong
But there’s no love in sight -
Just those lonely Lubbock lights

I was ready to give up the road
As I turned onto her street
But the silhouette there in her window
Was of someone who once looked like me
I’d placed a price on her heart
But someone else collected the bounty
Now this lost soul don’t know where to start
I think I’m lost somewhere in Hale County

Reckless Kelly - Idaho
Cross Canadian - Oklahoma

All the labels are in TX. That is the part that matters. And yea, I left out a lot. Most all of them are good. Some more than others. But it is just good music. Put it on, and just "let it roll".....

Check out a band outta Denver called The Railbenders. They flat out rock.

Plenty of great drinking songs.

I gotta disagree with ya Tyler. Yeah Ragweed has changed, but they really aren't any more mainstream than they were. I personally loved most of Garage.

Cody is from Bryan, yeah the band is from Stillwater, and he spent his teens there, but he was born a Texan.

The bands come from lots of places, but the bars they play are mostly in Texas. That is where the audience is.

And yeah, it's about the music, not where you are from, or what you look like.

Ragweed just lost their sound after the Soul Gravy Album. Their self titled album is by far their best album ever produced. I was listening to that and some of their new songs and they sound nothing alike. You'd almost swear that it's two different bands.

Your right though, it's not where your from or what you look like, as long as you play good music I'll listen to it.

Dunno bout that. "I'm in the mood to do a little drinking tonight" by Roger Creager and Radney Foster is a good song to drink to.
