Thumbs down My lovely experiance with my dealer....

Well, what can I say? I went in prepaired! Driving down the hwy going to work my truck did the classic "fall on it's face rutine", I automaticlly knew what the deal was, code P0216 "massive timing failure of the injection pump", here we go again ! Fell on it's face 5 times, upon reaching work I hooked it up to the sanner and sure as I am 5'11" there was the code "p0216". On break I run it down to the dealer for repair's. Here is where AKDSLDOG get's really ...... Service writer calls me 5hrs later and tells me this. " Mr Buettner, we pulled a code of P0216 from your vehicle, we cleared the code and tested the lift pump, which has a flow of 1.6L (that is good), but, no that we cleared the code, we can't get your truck to "DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM". I said, yeah and what's your point? They said I had to pick up my truck and drive it till it failed again then bring it back and they would run a scan all over again. I said, tell me you are joking. No sir. So your telling me to take me truck, drive it till it happens again, bring it in so you can do this all over again and it may not "DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM"? He said, YUP! This is where it got really ugly. I told him, I am a heavy equipment mechanic, I am not stupid nor am I a idiot! I paid you $31,000.00 for a truck with a warrenty, my truck is broken, I know it's broken, you know it's broken, FIX IT !!!! He said thier policy, "it has to duplicate the problem after we clear the code in order to be covered under warrenty". Insert curse word's HERE and he asked me if I would like to speak with his manager? I said, you bet your blank! Manager get's on the phone and tells me he understands I am upset , you think!? (HERS YOUR SIGN!) I tell him the whole deal "again" and he tells me, "don't worry about anything, I have ways to get the code to reset it self". Well the next morning I get a real nice phone call from the service writer saying that they are installing a new injection pump as we speak, I said thank you very much.

You can not, must not and will not give into these dealers!!!!! I could tell right away that this service writer was trying to feed me a line of BS. What's this world coming too? Well this is pump #3, I hope it's the last, if not, I hope it dies after the warrenty so I can go after market and cure this problem.

P.S. They brought up the fact that my "VOID STICKER" was torn on the pump, I said "DUHHHHHH! IT'S BEEN REPLACED BY YOU PEOPLE ALLREADY!!!!!

All right, I am off my soap box.

WOW ! I must be blessed, I replaced my first lift pump at about 60,000 miles 'cause I was going across country and wanted to make sure I had a good pump. No other wierdness with about 67,000 miles on my beast. I hear all these problems people have and wonder how the heck I got such a trouble-free truck. Is there a way to test the injection pump other than waiting for there code to appear ?

You can pressure test it, but yousually just wait for the "DEATH CODE" P0216.

I think, as sad as it is, thats how thw warranty world is. I recently began an episode where my Harley was having smoke from the wiring plug at the regulator/stator. Every time I would start it it happened. I take it to the dealer, they say its from oil getting it and the heat is causing the smoke, the charging system is OK, they cleaned the plug. Get it home, start it next day and its worst. Back to the dealer and Im fumin (paid $1200 for warry) Guy tells me theres nothing wrong with it, although he saw the smoke , this time I show him the melted wiring and plug, he says, OH great, well have it fixed by tomorrow am. He admitted seeing the smoke the first time, but no melted wires. Therefore he could not replace anything, even though he new I wouldent make it far on a trip, cause the parts he would send back to HD would look OK and they would eat the warranty $$.
Does a warranty like yours include towing? next time Im gonna let them come get it when its dead. Then they`ll have to pay for car rental/hotel; etc. just stupid IMO.

Hang in there.... ask the service guy if he is using birth control. We don't need his gene pool to continue.

Ofcourse they can't duplicate the problem...most dealers don't even drive a vehicle more than once around the block! Make them drive YOUR truck home and see how they like getting stuck out in the AK cold! Idiots.

Would this be the dealer on 5th Ave, or the other one across town....not to mention any names
I'm getting ready to pull my TST box out this week and take the truck in to them for the LP due to low fuel pressure.
They actually tried telling me on the phone this morning that the $1400 IP (emphasized price) could be causing low FP at my gauge which is plumbed into the filter outlet ....it might not be the LP.....oh btw, my filter only has about 3,500 miles on it.

I figured so. Screw them I bought the new FASS pump this morning.

Yes I got my truck back, only to finish putting it together in the parking lot at work!
They left the "AIR INLET BOOT CLAMPS" off! I hit 2000rpm's and no power and it sounds like the horn came on. Needless to say, I was peo'd by the time I go to work. They even left a dirty shop towel wedged in the injection lines were they dump into the head! . As usual, I am not impressed with there service.

Maybe I should mail them my old LP and fuel lines and tell them I can't figure out which year Dodge Omni this belongs too .
