Mud tires?
Mud tires?
Im trying to prove my dad wrong here so see if you can help me. My dad belives that that mud terrane tires always make the truck vibreate. Hes looking for e rate tires w/ good tred. But he wont buy any m/t tires with an e rateing so he buy them. So please answe soon.
1 of my friends has a set of 33" BFG mud terrains and they don't vibrate at all. Another one of my buddies has a set of 35" Pro comp mud terrains and they don't vibrate at all but are very noisy. Another one of my friends has 38" Super Swampers and I wouldn't daily drive that truck to save my soul. They vibrate, are noisy, and he's only got 5k on them and they are half gone.
I agree with Blue. Some mud tires vibrate, some don't. It depends on the tread and manufacture. My bro has Mickey Thompson Claws, I have Big O mudders. His vibrate, mine dont.
If its not balanced correctly, even a BFG MT will vibrate. Ive had Swampers, Mickey Thompsons, and BFG's on my Jeep and the Swampers were definately the most noticable..........although the best in mud

bias tires vibrate radials don't i've had ss tsl radials,ss thornbirds,ss sx's,pro comp xterrains, bfg m/t's,ss ssr radials. the thornbirds and sx's sucked the thornbirds had such a bad death wabble they caused me to lose control and put my jeep up on two wheels and end up in a corn field. i will never buy a set of bias tires again they look cool but ride like crap.

My 305/55/20s have about 20K or so miles on them and no problem. I've also had 35" BFG M/Ts on my 98 for a 6K road trip with no vibration... but usually ran that truck on 38 Swampers and it'd didn't feel bad to me... just a roughride overall on that truck.
But yes, you're gonna get your problems from bias tires... especially when it's cold and has been sitting for a while until they get warm and even out. Radials, no probs.
(My 38's were radials... it's those reasons that I didn't go with the 39s's which were bias plys.
