I was in Wal-Mart today looking through the CD auto audio players thinking, it would be cool if they had one that used a USB drive, so you could plug in a flash dri... and there was one by Sony. I don't know if it is a hard drive that pulls off a USB or uses a flash drive as storage, any body know?

OK, I'm starting to find more of them (The USB ones), even some that us the SD memory cards. Now I'm thinking of something that I could hook a back up camera to, but I don't want a big screen on it, so I might just get a regular car DVD player one day (when I really get the itch for the back up camera) and mount it overhead.
For $200 or so you can have CarToys install an Alpine head unit. Mine is a 9856 but they may have updated now to other numbers. Then hook up a 30 gig Ipod directly to it. http://www.cartoys.com/default.cfm/t...eo/o/InDash_CD
You can buy the Ipod anywhere. Walmart, Best Buy etc.
I love my set up! I never listen to the radio anymore. 3800 songs at my fingertips controlled thru the Alpine........no cds to scratch, fumble with, or take up room anymore. No need to remove the Ipod unless im updating it with new downloaded music or pics. The stereo controls it and keeps it charged. Sounds awesome even on the factory (junk) speakers and no amp.

See, I just don't want to spend the money on an IPod. I don't know exactly why yet, other than the cheapest being $80 with no screen. I can get the head unit from Tiger Direct and a good size flash drive for the same price as what they wanted for the same kind of unit at Best Buy. And that was still cheaper than an IPod alone.

Hmmm, I'm wondering about going a step further (like I really need to), and getting one that will play DVD's so I can hook up a back up camera on my truck and trailer. Or would I be better off to get an in dash and a real car DVD player (that I could buy later on so I don't spend a chunk of change at one time)
Still not getting it until August though.
