Anyone know a good MP3 Downloader? Napster turned me down since I still have Windows 98 (must be 2000 or higher). I really don't want to go back to kazaa. Any help would be appreciated.

 

My kids use one called iMesh. I don't know how good or bad it is, but there seems to be a fair selection.

 

I use WinMX. pretty much the same as the old style napster.

 

I'm reformed. Honest! But I've heard WinMX is fair.

 

 

I recently took the LEGAL route and started buying mp3s form a site called musicmatch.each song is .99 cents or a whole album is $9.99. you can even use the same site to burn your cd's or download to mp3 player.

 

i like www.kazaa.com there are lots of people on there so you can get whatever you want just stay away from the movies and video games and you won't get any viruses.

 

i don't use that stuff either, but if i were to, i've HEARD that limewire is pretty good!!

FYI Supreme Court up here in Canada ruled that downloading music for personal use is LEGAL. Recording industry asked for and received a royalty fee on any and all recordable media. Then when they came back for their second bite, they were told that they had negotiated for and received their royalty share . So for now all is well.

 

Limewire here...seems pretty good.

 

The best i have is ARES. you can download anything and it always works for me dn its fast and everything. to find it go to www.ask.com then in the search field type ares music. then you will find it from there. great download center. trust me

 

Err, Bearshare seems to be good and nobody knows about it. I can't say that it is free of spyware, but if Spybot can't find anything and I don't get pop-ups, I assume it is.
I use it for downloading non-copyrighted historical material...

 

I use limewire , but it seems to run slow , and has a somewhat high error rate , but , it also seems to find more hits than kazaa does , i have tried sharaza also , and hated it with a passion.

I have heard that it can be a hassel to get the song you want on WINMX , and i do not beleive those are mp3's , but rather WMA's.

AVG grabed "tanted" files and downloads alot when I used kazaa...

I don't care what your downloading...the risk is there, have and run an up-to-date virus protection, and update it as suggested....

AVG is free and works quite well for me (better than Norton use to)
