More computer help please

I am trying to install a program called ACTIVESYNC on my computer, but am having a problem. Once I download the program the name changes to RICHINC.DLL and wants to know what program created it before it can open it. I have no idea where to go from here. If this is a MS program, why doesn't Windows recognize it?

I checked on the internet for how to open a .ddl file and I do not have any of the listed possibilities installed on my computer. Another link suggests that I may had a registry problem.

Any suggestions as to how to install this program? Please speak simple English as I am not that computer savvy.

I have been thinking about installing a good registry checker/cleaner, but which one? Pay for a good one or choose one of the freeware?

I do not have the program, but sometimes downloads get corrupted, try downloading from here : http://www.filehippo.com/search?q=activesync. and start over. if it asks you the same thing about who created it, I would allow it to run, file hippo has a good track record of having clean software, most likely your security settings are just making sure you want to do what you asked it to do. How is your other slow connect speed working out for ya? any luck with that yet ?

That did it, thank you. Now I will play with that file and see if I can make it do what I want it to do.

Still having my speed problem. Had a loooonnng chat with Telmex and they did tests they have never done before and my speed is pretty good, but it does not last. Now they have given me a ticket number and to call it in when I am actually experiencing the problem so they can do another test at that moment. Have not done that yet.

You can read .dll's with notepad. Just open notepad and look for it.

Probably don't want to use Notepad. DLLs are Dynamic-Link Libraries and are complied code (probably C++ or C#, VB, etc.). They provide reusable and callable functions and/or procedures used by other application executables. While DLLs can be reverse-engineered, they won't make much sense without proper documentation.

Which version Activesync are you using?

The .dll is a Windows CE document converter and it's not a critical component for using Activesync.

Depending on the service pack you have-
(Right click on the My Computer icon, select properties)
If it says SP2 or SP1
