Cool mig welders

So me and a buddie are going in together on a mig welder

we kind of wanted to keep the price as low as possible but still get something decent.

anyhow Acklands in Prince albert has a Hobart 180 amp Mig with the gas setup on sale for 750.00

our other choices are a lincon 175 plus, Miller 175 & liquid air 175, they run about 1000 - 1100

is the hobart any good or are we better off spending the extra on one of the others

the money saved would pay for a cutoff saw

hobart welder

lincon welder

miller welder

liquid air

You are real close in price to the Lincoln 215 which has the drive setup from the 255 and is superior to the smaller machines. And of course the capacity is higher.

I agree with the 215. I have the 255 and love it! The drive is great and wow what a welder. The only newer hobarts I have used were low on features and not up to the quality of the older Hobarts (my TIG is an old Hobart and is first rate.

Enjoy

I found recently when I was looking that Miller and Hobart were the SAME company! That being said, I found a used 215 lincoln and it is great. I would also suggest ESAB they make some great machines.

A friend has a Miller 175 and it is an excellent welder. It has seen a ton of use and has been totally problem-free. I can also weld better with it than I can with my Millermatic 251.

I have a Hobart 175, and it works fine, much of the same parts as a Miller...

That said, I'd rather own my own Hobart than go in halves on an ESAB... Sharing equipment like this sucks...
