May's virtual breakroom 2021

The month is 2/3 over. My wife and I contracted COVID by surface transfer, no other way it could have happened. The wife is in serious condition, but slowly improving. I was released 2 weeks ago chained to an oxygen machine, but I am using it less and less each day. We have been ordering our food online for pickup at the local stores. So that means pretty much no direct human contact. For a retired senior, this has been devastating. Too weak to do much, can't cook because of the oxygen, even difficult to care for Mr Morris. I have a friend that has helped some, but can only do so much. Senior services in this state is limited, even more so if you are out of their local service area. Finally after 2 weeks someone called me back. Starting next week they will deliver 3 meals a week. I need someone to do laundry and general housecleaning once a week.

Been off supplemental O2 for a couple days now. I seem to be feeling better. Went outside with Mr Morris for the 1st time sense I got out of the hospital.

Hang in there Cougar. My parents had fatigue that lasted the longest. Dad just got nicked, but my mom really took a beating, especially her lungs. She has been recovering nicely since Christmas. Get your rest and don't over do it.

Rudely awakened by a 6.1 earthquake at 11PM last night. We were pretty close to the epicenter. A pretty good shake that toppled over small objects and shook us from our beds. Dozens of small aftershocks and a 4.6 that woke us again at 4AM. No damage has been reported.
Had a little sun yesterday so we all sat outside for a while.

I was in the big one in 1991 in SoCal. Lasted over a minute and the epicenter was located a few doors down from our old cabin in Big Bear. I didn't think that one was ever gonna end, then the aftershocks would rattle thru and get the blood pressure up again.

Good times.

Sorry for the loss of your friend. Shure it was the COVID? Found out the reason my wife was in the hospital so long is that their incompetency almost killed her. So locked into their "COVID protocol", even though they could see what was wrong they wouldn't fix it or even acknowledge it. Finally took one nurse to change their procedure and she started recovering. "Protocol" says use a canular to administer oxygen. period. If your sinuses are blocked up, how can you get air? They didn't care, it was not in the "protocol". They did the same thing to me. Except while they weren't looking I would breath through my mouth with the canular next to my mouth.

Unfortunately, nowadays incompetence abounds, a lot of it is due to following protocol because people can't think for themselves and make solid decisions, inexperience abounds also, reading about it in a book is not the same as field time, period.....don't get me started.
