The frozen tundra breakroom 1.19.14-1.25.14
Well the new breakroom is thawed out and open for business! Plenty of warm beverages for everyone and the dragon has started up his flame assisted hand warmers!
How has everyone been?
Last week was not kind to the wife and I. The wifes job was eliminated and she was let go. Then on Tuesday she took herself to the ER and was diagnosed with H1N1, Bronchitis, and a heart issue due to dehydration and being sick. She spent 12 hrs in the ER. I had the bronchitis too. The wife was very ill but today she is a lot better and recovering. That H1N1 is nasty flu. She is feeling well but still is dealing with the crud left over from being sick.

Good morning all - - - good to come in and grab a warm ph00. Sorry to hear about the wife, Matt. Not fun when everything seems to come down on you all at the same time. Just sent some words upstairs for her and you both. Stiff upper and behave yourselves.
I am off and running - - have a great one.........................

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
Good morning - or is it? Why am I up at such a ridiculous hour on a Sunday? So maybe I should be saying good night instead?
Matt, you dun gud with the breakroom. Maybe you can help in trying to train the janitor to do the same?
Hey, that does not sound like a nice week at all. Hope your wife quickly recovers 100% and gets another job - if that is what she wants.
Ran across something that to me is amazing. What talent! Take a look at this: http://io9.com/this-meticulously-cra...bertsorokanich
Been fighting on and off with my computer the last couple of days. I still do not have control of my home page. Lary, I have SuperAntiSpyware and all it did was find a bunch of tracking cookies. Have AVG running in the background constantly. Also tried HitManPro, MallWarebytes, HiJackthis andJRT (junk remover). Had Spybot, but removed it yesterday because it drastically slowed down my computer. The home page is controlled by PSafe and have looked everywhere I can think of, but can't see where it is hiding.
When the rest of you finally surface, hope you have a great day.

Red, Some extra knee mail sent. Busy day today. Got a crowd coming over, gonna knock the ice off the grill and burn some burgers and such. Firing up the saw and splitter on a standing dead hickory I've had my eye on. Expect a few select pieces will make it on the grill. Have a great week!

Jeez Matt, that couldn't suck much more. But the heck with the job, just get her feeling better!
Or better yet, just appoint him the new janitor! Maybe his wife would do it, she's looking for work!
Mornin' all.
It is Sunday, January 19th.

1915 - More than 20 people were killed when German zeppelins bombed England for the first time. The bombs were dropped on Great Yarmouth and King's Lynn.
1937 - Howard Hughes set a transcontinental air record. He flew from Los Angeles to New York City in 7 hours, 28 minutes and 25 seconds.
1942 - The Japanese invaded Burma (later Myanmar).
1944 - The U.S. federal government relinquished control of the nation's railroads after the settlement of a wage dispute.
1949 - The salary of the President of the United States was increased from $75,000 to $100,000 with an additional $50,000 expense allowance for each year in office.
1953 - Sixty-eight percent of all TV sets in the U.S. were tuned to CBS-TV, as Lucy Ricardo, of "I Love Lucy," gave birth to a baby boy.
1955 - U.S. President Eisenhower allowed a filmed news conference to be used on television (and in movie newsreels) for the first time.
1971 - At the Charles Manson murder trial, the Beatles' "Helter Skelter" was played. At the scene of one of his gruesome murders, the words "helter skelter" were written on a mirror.
1977 - U.S. President Ford pardoned Iva Toguri D'Aquino (the "Tokyo Rose").
1981 - The U.S. and Iran signed an agreement paving the way for the release of 52 Americans held hostage for more than 14 months and for arrangements to unfreeze Iranian assets and to resolve all claims against Iran.
1993 - IBM announced a loss of $4.97 billion for 1992. It was the largest single-year loss in U.S. corporate history.
1996 - U.S. first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton was subpoenaed to appear before a federal grand jury. The investigation was concerning the discovery of billing records related to the Whitewater real estate investment venture.
2001 - Texas officials demoted a warden and suspended three other prison workers in the wake of the escape of the "Texas 7."
Today's thought:
Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.
Thanks for the coffee Matt!

Stan go to run and type in msconfig then click on the start tab to see all the programs that start automatically. Google each and every one and uncheck all the ones that do not need to be running in the background.
If I remember correctly Psafe is a free Brazilian antivirus type of thing, I bet hijackthis shows the bho that is altering your home page.

Thanks Lary. Not 10 minutes ago I finally got it beat. I tried a few free removal programs, but none of them could see it. Finally had a brainwave and reset Firefox to it's original configuration. That appears to have worked.
One good thing that came from all this mess is that it forced me to clean up a bunch of old stuff that I was no longer using. My computer is considerably faster now and so far, Shockwave is not hanging up like it used to. Learned a few things in the process too.

Now about the Janitor... he's stuck in his ways and sometimes the mop bucket. There is no training him!
Thanks!
Thanks Mark, I'm sure things will. I'm not as worried about the wife not working. Her old job had been very stressful the last few months, she needed a little time off to relax. She still has her cake decorating business to keep her busy. I just want her to get healthy again.
Morning, got a little snow overnight, maybe 3 inches. It's nothing like the foot on snow we got here two Sundays ago.

Matt, chicken soup time.
Stan, Trend Micro Titanium. It dug up all kinds of dirt the others let slide right through.
Back from Oregon and survived. Dealing with the company chaos is not going to be fun next week.
