lost my grandpa and made the news on his way out

The Patriarch of my family left this world last Friday. He went out for a walk Wednesday but little did we know he was taking a walk to be with his senora, my grandmother. After much searching by HPD K9 and rescue units he was found the next morning in the creek by a passerby who contacted police. I was fortunate to be his oldest grandson so I keep with me many wonderful memory and will be forever thankful for his decision to move the family from Mexico. I am happy he stuck around long enough to see his sons become business owners and his grandchildren college graduates and professionals worlds apart from the future we would have had in the country of his birth. Above all I am glad he met his one great granddaughter, my little girl. On his way out he managed to make the news which I know he is chuckling about right now. I will make you proud Abuelito (Grandpa)!

Wow, 83. At least he lived a long one.

Good to hear about the future he was able to hand down to his kids/grandkids.

Via con Dios...

As long as you pass on what he taught you, he will never really be gone...

good words, brother.

not many folks get the chance to walk this earth 83 years, and leave behind a quality family.

guys, you have no idea how much i appreciate your sincere words. he said he never wanted to go in some hospital bed hooked up to cold machines surrounded by strangers but i never imagined finding him in a creek under rail road tracks. go figure, he was an independent ole' coot till the end.
