looking at a 'new' 2004 massey 1428 Hydro

stumbled across this the other day, has 1520 loader, turf tires, trying to decide on 72" or 60" mower and waiting to see what kind of a deal he'll make.
Tractor is at Massey dealer in Lancaster OH, Anybody have any experience with this dealer or these tractors? (same a AGCO ST28A)

One thing to make sure of...do you need the turf tires or agricultural tires? If you plan on taking the tractor into much mud or lose dirt you will not like the turf tires, if you mainly plan on mowing with it then they are the way to go. I am not sure if that tractor model has a perkins diesel engine, if it does that should be a pretty reliable tractor. If it is a new 2004 model the dealer should be willing to deal if you are ready to write the check out. Good luck with the deal and hope it works out for you.

Will be used for mostly mowing and some loader work ( with a pallet fork ). I would perfer to have R4's, but if its a good deal I'll just have to make due. I thought that the little Masseys where Iskie (sp?), but have seen some dealer adds claiming perkins.. guess I'll just have to look at engine tag to see.

Sorry, I'm just not sure about the model number. I may be thinking of a little bigger tractor. I'm only really familair with the antiques and the great big tractors like JD, IH & Case.

Nope...the entire tractor is built by Iseki, just like the last 15 years models from AGCO/MF

Duane, I've never dealt with that dealer over there...but I've never heard anything bad about him either!

IMHO, biased as it may be , you can't go wrong with a AGCO/MF compact, and the 1428V Hydros are simple, and tough. We probably sold 6 or 7 of those in either the MF or AGCO colors, and we hardly never hear from those customers...or any other of our compact customers. Usually it's once or twice a year to service them, or get the ready to go for the next season!

Feel free to ask any questions you might have...I'd be glad to assist them in the sale

BTW, with the deals AGCO has going on their Aged inventory right now, it should be a pretty good deal!

thanks Chris,
Was thinking I would be down your way pricing one of these, never heard anything bad about you guys and my little boy would just love to get a tour of all your old allis's. We'll see how things work out. Again, thanks for the info.
