LONG SHOT - F##D Windstar Question

1995 Windstar: (father-in-laws)

The interior light will not go out, and it's running the battery down. Also, the "door ajar" light comes on when ever it feels like it.

I have fooled with all the door "buttons", etc, but it still does it. Even disconnected the battery for awhile.

Does anyone have any ideas or know somewhere on the internet that I might look?

Did you try the sliding door switches and the rear trunk? Some of these newer vehicle have micro switches built into the latches themselves, especially if the vehicle has a factory alarm. Check the wiring loom into the doors, the wires do wear/break down from opening/closing, pinched wire?

Yes, I punched, pulled and tugged all of the door buttons. It's too dark to check the loom, but I'll check them in the morning.
I did find one place on the net that said something about the alarm sensors in the door latch area. It don't have an alarm, but it's worth checking anyway.

It also has a short delay timer for the interior lights, but I have no idea where it is.

Thanks for responding,

PS: Are you high and dry in ARROYO GRANDE, CA.? I hope so.

I'm tryin to stay HIGH & DRY, but they say tonight/tomorrows storm is suppose to be the worse and the final so well see. They had another bad Mudslide today at La Conchita, supposedly worse then the "95" slide, hole side of the mountain came down. The fire department is asking for voluntary evacuation in certain areas. Keep us in your Prayers.

Hey Mr. Buckshot.

I noticed in your pics you have Utah license plates,
whereabouts did you hail from before you moved the wrong direction.
(most move east from Ca. to Utah, not the other way around)

Well, I've always been in Ca. all my life. The Utah plates are because my dad has an R.V. business in St. George, UT. I/We got the truck in Utah and its used as a company vehicle. I deliver trailers from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and Utah. So thats why the Utah plates. I checked into registering it in Ca., BBBUUUUTTTT, California wants $1200.00 to register it. Utah gets $51.00 + $15.00 for the state inspection. It just makes more sense to leave it in Utah.

Thanks a lot Buckshot..............!

Spraying a little WD40 in the door latches has made the light go off!
