Linex on rocker panels
I'm thinking of Linex'ing my rockers to avoid rock chipping. I'm worried about the upper edge delaminating and moisture getting next to the body starting rust. Can anyone comment either way? I plan to keep this truck forever and rust is a killer. If Linex is a problem, is there a better alternative to mudflaps. By the way, the local linex shop quoted me $500. Thanks.
What color are you thinking of having done? Be aware that the color may fade over time. On my bumpers, the black color has lost the original shine but still looks good.
Like the Kid said, delamination and moisture should not be a problem if applied correctly.
Also, $500 is rather steep. I was thinking somewhere in the $200 to $250 range.

There is also Durabak, for the do-it-your-selfer! Thats what I just ordered, 1-gallon, black, non-uv resistant and accelerator $98.55 shipped all kinds of colors uv-resistant, non-uv-resistant, textured, smooth, look at the website for more info, www.durabak.com

They did a good job, except for some overspray. They charged me 250, but that was over a year ago. They charge so much becuase they have to tape off so much of the truck.

Hey, phillip, I think that is the same stuff as durabak, if I am not mistakin, the APPLIED SURFACES INC sell the durabak to most of the major protective coating and government regulations copliances. they have a contract with Navy and do most of the decks and steps and MISC. on the ships. They are also ADA compliant, which means they are the top choice for the Implementation of the americans disabilities Act for state, county and city governments for the fabrication of detachable barriers. handicap ramps, access ramps and so on! its also a 1 -stp deal! I like the sound of that! clean up the wax and scuff it good, and paint it on there with a brush or roller, or it could be sprayed.
Doodah.
I have line-x. are you saying that line-x is the same as durabak?
either way, i think the prices are going up. i think i remember my cousin telling me he paid close to 400 to have his done. Personally, I think thats too much for so little.

sorry phillip, I had to re-read your post. I thought that is what you had done to yours, I didn't relize you had line-x! yours looks good, thats what I am doing to mine rockers, fender flares and front and hopefully rear bumpers when I get them built!
I'm also going to line my rocker panels. However, I plan on doing about 1 1/2" all around the fenders and then I'm going to get some full length chrome fender trim to cover it up. I figure that way water can't get trapped in the fenders and it'll look pretty sweet.
