rock chips on the rocker panels
It's been a year since I bought the truck, and after doing the dirt and a hard, salty winter, I've got rock chips all along the rocker panels and bubbles of my dually. :P<br><br>I don't want to fight this battle every year, sanding and painting, because I can tell I'm going to lose. I put on Husky flaps when I got the truck, and it's made a difference, but not enough. <br><br>Anyone done anything about this? I know one guy that had that special, thick, textured paint put on (can't remember the name), but that didn't work for long. Someone else I know actually used Rhinoliner, and it looks crazy but it seems to work. Looking for some other ideas, though. thanks. <br><br>ascraeus<br><br>

Heck there's been a coupla guys had Line-X bed coating shot on their rocker panels.<br>Don't get much tougher than that.
<br>The hard part is to get a color match.

Ascraeus:<br><br>Like "Shovelhead" already said, the spray-on bedliner<br>material seems to hold up the best. I have seen it<br>done successfully with "Line X" and "Rhino Linings".<br>They can color the material with the same color as<br>your truck. <br><br>I have the "3M Anti-Chip Paint Coating" on my 96'<br>and it has held up pretty well. I intend to re-do mine<br>here shortly and will have it put on thicker this time.<br>It is the same color as my truck and has a little<br>"rougher" texture than the factory paint. If it does<br>chip, it is very easy for my body shop to "touch-up"<br>those spots with no problems. You can buy this<br>material at most NAPA Auto Parts stores or any<br>automotive paint/body shop.<br><br>Hope this has you helped you some.<br><br>--------<br>John_P

My truck ****** me off so bad the first spring! I just got it and drove it home I live on a dirt road so down I go SLOW and get there and the daulie fenders are beat to hell with sand and road crap! No paint left on them where they join the truck I was so mad so I bought the runningboards which aren't really my stile to protect it the do really protect it well but they are pretty expensive.
Re:rock chips on the rocker panels
Sounds like you need a "full length set of running boards".<br><br>They protect the rocker panels and dually fenders nicely.<br><br>Add a little longevity as wel

Owtlaw I have considered the clear bra as well. Please tell me more of your experience with it as well as how much you paid and where you got it done. I am not that far from you so I am sure it would be the same place

I had Duraguard sprayed on mine about 2" up and then the bottom silver repainted last fall. They feathered the Duraguard so it's barely noticeable. Seems to be holding up good. I'll try to get a picture of it and post it.

the stuff is great! and they do spray in color also, more $$$
