My laptop was working fine one day, now it will not detect a wireless network.Has windows vista and all it says it it failed to connect to broadband connection. Our internet provider said our wireless router is working.

I am not good with computers but willing to try some suggestions.

Ime no good with them either but mine does this from time to time and I usaly have to unplug the wireless router/modem and plug them back in ,then reboot the computer and it works again. Anouther thing that is simple is mine has a swich that I can shut the internal wireless modem off to save battery power while not plugged in. Check to see if you have one and its off.

x2. If mine starts acting up, I just turn the wireless switch off, then back on. If that doesn't do it, I will unplug the modem for about 30 seconds and back on. It seems to fix the problem.

Might be a little obvious, but most laptops have a little switch that turns off the wireless card. Did you happen to turn that off? Thats been know to happen to the best of us.

If you have a compaq F700 series laptop, then your wireless card has either failed or the card is getting a poor connection. My wife's laptop and my cousin's laptop both done the same thing, just added a usb wireless card and went on.

Are you using Windows software to connect, or the wireless card software to connect, check both and see which one you are connecting with, and see if they are enabled.

Like I said, on my wife's compaq F700 and on my cousin's Compaq F700, you can pull the wireless card and reseat it and it will work for a little while, then the light by the wireless switch on the front goes from blue to orange.
