Thumbs down Keeping us safe from ourselves

Let's see, how many jobs will this cost and how much will it cost to redesign all the affected parts? Sounds like an anti-stimulus to me.

While I'm all for safety, government mandated safety is one thing I can do without.

How many kids would be chewing on their bikes? I for one would have gotten my butt kicked for doing such a stupid thing...

I imagine I've bitten more lead sinkers since I was 5, than most kids have eaten paintchips. I could be wrong, I haven't tried paintchips. They might taste good? Point is, I haven't fallen over from it yet.

From the time I was about 8 til I was 13, I walked around nearly every day with lead Crossman pellets in my mouth. I would come home from school, do my chores, and the get my trusty Benjamen air rifle and my Weimaraner. Off Ol' Smokey and me would go to whack just about anything with feathers. Carrying the pellets in my mouth allowed for much faster reloads. I can still taste the oil out of that little red and white can nearly 50 years later. Around 5 years with lead in my mouth nearly everyday, and I got mostly straight A's all through school. I hate to think how smart I could be if it wasn't for that hazardous substance screwing me up!

I did the same thing. I also did it with regular BB's. When I had a single-shot .22, I always had a couple if CCI Stingers under my tongue. I swallowed one once. I was awfully worried that there might be a "bad" reaction between the lead/brass/powder and the acid in my stomach and I might end up in the local paper for having shot myself in the stomach from the inside.

This is really incredible - especially at a time like this when dealers are trying to sell anything just to stay in business. HOW CAN PEOPLE THINK THIS WAY?

This is what our local paper had on it today:
