Just Received My Acceptance Letter
Just Received My Acceptance Letter
Went down to pick up the mail today and I finally got my letter from the St.Cloud Technical College. They accepted me into the Medium/Heavy Truck Technician program. It's a 2 year course and I start August, 27th. I'm realy excited about the whole ordeal, it should be a good step in the direction I want to take in my career.
There goes all my money for my truck.

Im going to a Diesel Mechanic school in Houston, Texas... I believe it is only 2 years also! What all are you gunna learn? Im planning on doing medium/heavy duty diesels...Cat, Detroit, Cummins and plan on taking a harvesting equipment class.
Thanks for the kind words all.
CTDPower11, i'll be running through a slue of things. Everything from the basics of diesel, to suspension to welding. I also plan on taking the welding course the school offers.
Here is a list of some of the stuff I will be learning.

There is a very large CAT dealer about 20 minutes from my house, I would realy like to land a job there.

Congrats Nate! Sounds like you have yourself set up to get a well rounded education there. Diversifying your education will open more doors of opportunity for you in the long run, and also give you insight to what field of expertise you may want to settle into.
Best of luck to you.
Tim
Best of luck to you.

Congratulations! I just finished 15 months of Automotive Tech training. Looks like you are in something a little more formal then I was in (Lincoln Tech). If its even close to how my school was though the best advice I can give you is to be pro-active with your education. All of my classes were taught by former flat rate techs and even though they were on salary for teaching, they still operated in a flat rate mind set. They had no problem teaching you more then the curriculum but you had to ask the questions.
One other thing which will make your VERY employable when you graduate is take your ASE's! Do this 2 at a time as you complete the corresponding classes. I have all eight for the automotive, and while I don't think it means much more then that I can test really well, employers think really highly of techs with them.
Good luck with your school, I am a bit jealous because you actually get to take classes on diesel engines and all I got was nasty gasser education.

I can just see it now, a "Nate's Box"
from his school link:
MHTT1508 - Truck Computer Systems
Students will study an overview of the computer systems used on trucks. The emphasis will be on the study of input devices, ECM operation, and output devices. Students will identify components, test their operation, retrieve and program data, in accordance with manufacturer's procedures.
good deal. study hard.
dumb people have harder lives

tmleadr03- Yea, I have to take one course in gasser engines. Which I don't think i'll realy mind because I need to learn a little more about them anyways. So these ASE's, what exactly are they?
04ctd- If I design a box, the first thing im going to do is make the "Scarry Larry" program avaliable for my 03. I want to see my transmission and driveline blow out from under my truck when I leave the line.

Once again thanks to everyone for the kind words. Im realy excited about this.
