Yep, he was good. He was THE only late night show that was worth watching.

Yeah, NBC and MSNBC have specials going on him. He was really great! I used to sneak out of bed at night to watch him even on school nights. I usually got caught because my mom heard me laughing.

We all miss you!

I had no idea what an institution he was until he was off the air.

What a class act.

Makes me feel young, but I've never seen a Johnny Carson show before.

He definitely is part of the culture, though. On the radio this morning I heard something about a Carson dying, and I though "Oh darn. Johnny Carson died."

About ten minutes later I finally figured out who he was. That speaks reams about somebody's impact on culture- where you recognize the name even though you have no idea who they are...

For many of us, Johnny was the last one to wish us good night. He did that 4,531 times.

Thanks for the laughs Johnny and good night.

Today, on the local Norfolk, Nebraska radio station where Johnny Carson got his start as an intern they were reminising about his TV show. There were a couple of points that really hit home.

1. The animal shows! I can remember my mom calling up to us and we would run down the stairs to see the Tonight show animal sections.

2. You knew you were growing up when you could stay up late and watch Johnny Carson. You knew you were a "grownup" when you got all of his jokes!

Loosing Johnny Carson is like loosing your favorite uncle.
