I'd stay away from the early 04 (pumpe duce). They had a lot of egr cooler issues, leaking, and there is recall for liftpump issue. Other then that, I've heard of no other problems.

Depends on the market and how proud the owners are of them.

Don't on the the vw tdi you have to replace a band in the engine every 50 thousand miles or so that cost about $800. My mom almost bought one until they talked to the service guys at vw, but now shes happy with her cummins.

It's called a timing belt and the newer ones 03+ are every 100k. The older ones are 60 & 80k intervals

We charge about $975.00. That includes replacing the timing belt, tensioner, the 3 rollers in there, stretch bolts, waterpump and serpentine belt (if needed).

Um... 05 has only one type of TDI engine in America, the 2.0L 100HP. Same engine in both Jetta and Passat.

This is about right for cost from what I have heard on TDI club. Depending on where you live it can run you from 600 to 1K for the work. And let me tell you what, dont cheep out on this job. If this is done wrong its new engine time.

You are incorrect sir! The Passats got the 2.0L Pumpe Duce, and the Golf, Beetle, and Jettas got the 1.9L.

Man....its a timing belt engine???!!! Im also guessing its a valve interference engine as well since the compression is high......HUM....done TONS of belts on Mazda’s and Nissans back when i was a tech......shouldn't be too hard to figure out with a good service manual......just don’t let the cam turn with the belt off!!! Dang 50,000 mile interval though......

Its a 2002 I think....they are wanting about $10,000 for it......BUT we shall see.....

AND Buck....you don’t want any of these stacks...after I got em up here and looked at them close......I would not put them on my truck unless you had a ton of time to work with them ....and even still they still might be a little rough......IM going to have to try to polish crap out of the ones i got set aside for my ride......we will see.....sorry i didn’t get back with you.....
