Jeep Libertys
Hi, I'm (insert name) I'm a dieselholic. I'm here with you all, hanging my head in shame, mostly because I bought my wife a Jeep Liberty under the guise of appreciating the fine merits of the Jeep CRD. It now sits in the driveway, a 600hp twin turbo, NOS huffing, fire breathing dragon and my wife won't drive it.
Neighbor bought a Diesel Liberty for his wife. That thing has some jam.
He claims so far all he can find is a cold air intake. No chips ...... yet
My wife is good friends with our local Jeep dealer. She has an '04 Liberty Renegade gasser and was going to trade her in for the CRD, but the dealer told her to wait a few years...the currnet CRD will be revamped....more power and even better mileage. Can't fault a dealer for talking someone OUT of a sale. Her libby definitely has a much bigger feel than it really is. VERY comfortable and roomy and solid. The part time 4x4 is just like the old locked up t-case trucks and very capable of road. In full time 4X4, the front end engagement is seamless and no corner chatter. I will say though that the city mileage on the 3.7 V6 is not great, but liveable. I have always been a pickup fan....don't even like getting "down" into SUV's, but I'll drive the Libert anytime, it's that nice to drive. I drove a CRD Liberty and it does have promise, we'll wait and see what the aftermarket does. I believe Don at Formula one Diesel is starting the R&D for the Liberty Diesel, at least that's the last word I had.
We went to pick up the truck last night that was in for service and while we were there decided to look at the Liberty's they had on the line. One thing led to another and my wife was behind the wheel taking one for a test drive. I like it, but thought the interior noise was a little high. But I got the wink from her so after a little haggling over the Impala as a trade, we had a deal. Pick it up Monday. Sorry to see the Impala go. It served me well, and has a lot of life left in her. (Hmmm.....just like the wife....)
But we have this rediculous driveway that you can't get out of when it's covered with even a dusting of snow, so we need something with a locking differential. BTW, I looked at the Liberty diesel while I was there. It is not included in the "E" plan pricing special they have going on right now. Plus, I can't register a diesel "auto" in good 'ol Taxachusetts, so I got the 3.7l gas with the "E" plan pricing, plus a $2000 rebate. Pretty good. How are these with an oil change?

Unfortunately, Massachusetts won't allow us to register a new diesel Liberty because of the pollution restrictions mandated by the state, so we're considering a gasser.

I thought Commiefornia was bad.

I see where they have to be Emmissions tested, but don't see a ban.

My brother just bought a diesel Liberty, he had to go over to Tuson Az to get it because you can't buy them brand new in Calif. either. He let me take for a drive and actually drove quite nice. He was telling me that he got 33mpg @ 55 mph on the way back from Tuson.

True story. The dealer told them that they don,t recommend driving over 55 till after the break in period, so they were following the dealers advice.
