Its not my Olds either, but I need some help. My sister in-law needs to change out her serpentine belt, so being the nice guy I am say no problem... I have changed many belts in my day, but this thing has thrown a curve at me that I can't figure out. It's a 97 88 with a transverse mounted 3.7 liter. I started to remove the old belt and found that there is a engine mounting bracket which the belt encircles. I could not figure out any way of removing/replacing this belt without removing this mount, (and it is gonna be a ROYAL pain to remove
). Any wrencheads out there that may have run into a similar situation??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. All this time, I thought Ford engineers pulled some bonehead ideas, but in this instance I think that GM engineers shot themselves in both feet.......
Many thanks in advance for any help

Bonnevilles had a few years that the accessory belt in-circled the engine mount. You can cut the old one of but you still have to put one on. No way around removing the mount. The Bonnevilles were not that hard.
What I would do is take the center pin out of the mount and jack the engine from below, it will rise enough.
Hope that helps.
